She beats up on the Pac 12 pretty good. Good job, I'm tired of all the complaining from out west.

such as?

cardfan, she shoots at the conference, not your squad: "The Cardinal always feel underappreciated and underestimated. They should also feel overburdened, as they again spent the season propping up their underwhelming conference."

Yeah, I got that, I was asking Speedo about his/her comment about being "tired of all the complaining from the west".

Well, maybe "The Cardinal always feels underappreciated and underestimated" has to do with Tara having said things that give that impression?? I'm just asking?

I'm not too bright. I still can't figure out the final 4 match up if the 4 #1s play through.:(

"Notre Dame, which will open up at home against Liberty, reached the national title game last year by knocking off UConn in the Final Four. It was the fourth straight season that UConn made the Final Four. The two teams, who already have played three times this year, could meet for a fourth time in Denver." Finally an answer from ESPN/AP

Gotta stop trying to get my info from reading threads on the Boneyard!;)

Yeah, I was looking for specifics....who and when :) And I will ask Mechelle about her "always" comment :)

I like Maryland's chances. The game vs. ND should be about even. Maryland has 3-4 shot blockers and rebounders. ND needs to get foul calls or TOs to win.

The Duke travel makes no sense.

Just suppose that Sammy P. and Tayler Hill are both en fuego. Can we have an historic upset?

On the other hand it is ND's nation leading offense vs well... You know... MD's defense.

Depends on how it is called. MD does not play BE-level defense, but they play more than in the past. If ND does not get calls on wild drives into the lane, it could be very, very close. MD can score inside and outside. I don't think ND can defend them inside. ND needs to pressure the MD guards. Alyssa Thomas, from Harrisburg, will be one of the best players that ND sees this year. She needs to stay out of foul trouble.

on paper yes, but i'm underwhelmed by the ACC. UCONN beat Duke by a bunch and not much separated Duke from Miami or Maryland. and i'm not taking anything away from the ACC having 3 teams in the top 10 - they deserve it. but when we are talking about teams making it to the final 4, i think all 3 ACC teams come up short...

I'll go out on a limb and say that 1 ACC team will make the Final 4 this year.

With all the upsets during the season, I will buy that!

I think Maryland will beat ND. I actually have Maryland coming out of the bracket to the FF. It's just a bracket, but I think its possible. I think this tourney could be riddled with upsets.

All I can say is I will believe that MD plays effective defense when I see it. They still have not impressed me the three times I saw them this year.

I can understand why people give Maryland a chance to beat ND. What I don't quite get is what the determining factors are in that impression. Maryland's dominate post game didn't really help them distance themselves in a weak ACC. Two losses to a post-less Miami bodes well for ND's slew of guards. Maryland did squeak out a win at home over Duke. Other than that their win in the ACC final against G Tech is the most impressive. G Tech by the way has yet to beat anyone ranked above them. If Duke and Miami weren't flawed themselves I don't think Maryland would have beat either in the ACC tourney. Loss to V Tech with or without a player is suspect. OT game with UNC doesn't convince me of greatness either.

Most of this perceived post advantage is based on an assumption that Peters will be on the bench. Maryland's posts have fouled out more than ND's with vastly inferior competition. Kizer has taken a step back this season. Peters is the best post of all of them regardless of height. It's not like ND hasn't played teams that are better and deeper in the post then Maryland. Maryland hasn't played a team with the number and quality of ND's guards. Miami is the closest and they swept them.

I can understand the potential to beat ND. At the same time I doubt it because if you had to vote which 2 seed won't make the E8 I'd vote Maryland. Louisville took out a 2 in Xavier on their home-court last year. Walz knows Maryland. After that if seeds hold they can see TA&M. T A&M is bigger in the post and will defensively give them fits. People seem to forget that the complaint about Maryland as they were rising in the charts is that they didn't play anyone. They benefited from losses by everyone else in staying high in the poll. This is not a F4 team.

Speaking of limbs I got Rutgers beating Miami. If it happens I'll pick them over KY also if they're is still in it.
Limbs or just dumb?

Rutgers could lose to Gonzaga in game 1. I think it's a toss-up despite the seedings.

Take a parachute with you.

You don't mind if we say it's Maryland, do you? :D

Re MD/ND or for that matter any of the 3 ACC teams they deserve their rankings and respect, but as has been the case there are 4 teams on one level and then there is the next level! That is where Duke,Miami, and Md are! This doesn't mean in a given game anything can happen, but Baylor,Conn,ND, and ST are just in that level of 4! Re ND/ MD it is not just ND's offense they are a great defensive team also.
I do not want ND to win the NC,but I really respect the talent and play of the team and believe Muffett is an excellent coach. I love our team, but am not happy about the prospect of playing them a 4th time! The 3 SRs Novosol,Peters,Mallory,JR Diggins, and SO McBride! I think they are that good. I think the loss to us in the BE Championship Game is going to help them in the tournament as the win by us is going to help us. The ND players stayed as we were giving the trophy and all of the glory! I think they stayed there for 2 possible reasons.#1** as a motivational tool for them #2 to put an end to Becca Gate! I do think this 5 with a little help from Achowna are good enough to win! The wins by us and the way we won ist destroying St Johns and then beating/finishing off ND was incredibly important in the development of this team! It could not have happened at a better time!

Overall, I'm as intrigued with the matchups this year presents as I've ever been with any tourney. There's so much "unknown" - how good are teams, how good are the Big Six, how good are "those other folk."

I found myself agreeing with Debbie Antonelli on her podcast: She questioned whether St. B deserved a bid. Only the tourney can reveal that and, I think, only if they make it to the sweet 16.

I'll take it! Rutgers barely lost to Miami (double overtime) at Miami when both of our point guards (Rushdan & Speed) fouled out, so it could happen. Then again, our offense was probably better in the beginning of the year. If this match-up happens, I'd expect Monique Oliver to have another good game.

Still, like MilfordHusky mentioned, we'd have to get through Gonzaga first, and that's certainly no guarantee. Even Voepel thinks we got screwed, playing on a lower seed's home court (yet again).
