and look where it got them. If not for VT@begharder, Cuse would have been in the ACC 8 years ago. I'm surprised that some posters question the merits of #begharder.
Yes but Virginia Tech had several advantages that UConn doesn't.
At the time the ACC needed 7 yes votes to expand. Duke and North Carolina were solidly in the no camp. Thanks to political pressure including the threat of a cut in funding to UVa, the Cavaliers were forced to vote no on expansion until Virginia Tech was included. The Cavaliers no vote would have ended the expansion.
The ACC caved and voted on Virginia Tech first (allowing the Cavaliers to vote "yes"). Once Virginia Tech was in, Miami was approved and then the delay (the first time the ACC tried to wait out Notre Dame) prior to Boston College's admission.
