There once was a man named Jay Wright
who was crowned with UConn out of sight.
Then the huskies came ‘round
Looking championship bound
and ol’ Jay Bird got spooked and took flight.

It was QDog that started the game day limerick
It is all about mojo and not some cheap trick
Haiku now has a friend
Try it, I do recommend
Tonight coach Hurley will order the Huskies to sic

There once was a team from Storrs
Anything but winning it truly abhors
In came a team from Philli
With ambitions verging on silly
But the Storrs boys simply blew off their doors.

I don't know why we need a limerick
it feels a lot like a gimmick
we have the haiku,
and that's what we do,
but i'm here so i may as will mimic
There will always be those who fear change.
Some here wish we were home on the range.
But SOONER or later,
New comes into favor,
Thanks for taking the time to engage!

There once was a player named Whitmore
Who honestly thought he would hit more
Jackson iced his offense
Hawkins twisted the wrench
From now on I think he should sit more

On the contrary i have no fear
it's amusing and that much is clear
but you'll never replace
our favorite haiku place
Hurley said it's coming, and it's here.

A man weighing in from Kentucky
Found early examples just plucky
But here notes improvement
In limericks' movement
From clunky to ever more ducky

The lim'rick that's 9-9-6-6-9
Has cadence that satisfies each time
Like Nantucket ladies
And mythical Hades
The meter mates well with the rhyme line
