So I decided to go down to the Rent to see the Relief effort for myself and pass on a few pics to my fellow Boneyarders.
I saw 3 Guardsmen, 5 civilian dressed truck drivers. 5 Trucks with Trailers and 4 Rigs with no trailers. I stuck around for 45 min, I saw one military vehicle leave in that time.

My take. 1. I see the whole issue as a lack of communication. The Rent has been a designated emergency location for years. Why nothing was said about the possible use of the Rent DAYS BEFORE Irene instead of 2 Days after is a mystery. Why nothing was communicated before the storm of possible options for relocating the game is unknown. Somebody at UCONN could have been on top of this and wasn't. Surely UCONN has emergency plans.
2. I was in the CT Guard, 100 troops could have located at the Armory. 100 troops is a very small number, If the # was 500 or 1000 troops I could see using the Rent. The state of CT has to pay for this, I wonder was the # of troops was kept low due to the CT Budget?

In the irony to end all ironies, my friend drove through this morning....no work being done and a few guardsmen throwing a football around

This is not surprising at all, and meshes perfectly with the report that it was the Guard who was the party unwilling to be flexible.

It appears you were strategically placed on the only state property placed at the crossroads of 2, 84 and 91 when you snapped that photo!
