Totally opposite from the Towson game. Fans were engaged, tried to get the "Raaaaaandy, raaaaaaaaaaandy, raaaaaaaaaaaaandy" chant going a couple times but nobody else seemed to understand what was going on. Overall a much better effort by the students. There was actually no room for me when I showed up right at kickoff and I had to stand in the stairs next to the band (and was told to move by an usher but me and my friends stayed put, with no penalty). Team didn't look bad in the first half and I thought we saw a much better football team on the field last night even though we still took an L. When people found out Michigan was going to be at 8 next week they were freaking out they're so excited. Saturday night games are great for students and I know for sure we'll have a phenomenal presence next Saturday night.

I thought the student section did well last night. Packed, full of energy, and a sea of blue. The students didn't begin to empty out until the rest of the stadium started so a tip of the cap for that as well. When Maryland had the ball backed up against the student section, I could see extra energy from that end to make more noise. I really hope that the students can enjoy watching a better product on the field sometime soon.

I stayed until the bitter end ......but could blame no one for leaving. It is painful. At the end of the 1st half Coach P said fixing the small things will take care of the big things. He seems to be delusional about the magnitude of this train-wreck. Everything is wrong on every level.

It would be nice if he did fix something at the half...I think he goes and takes a 15 minute nap.

Students brought it last night and will be great next week. Same for the rest of the fans.

The energy of last night and next week actually makes me feel better about the program...if we have that many people who are that into this...crap product...then imagine what it'll be like when its respectable again?

I'm still worried about how many alums from the classes of 2005-08 have just totally tuned the program out, at least in my circle of friends. It's alarming. It's what needs to be the lifeblood of the athletic department for the future.

But for right now, the 35K there last night and the...if I'm honest, 35K in blue and not maize next week...special folks. The kind of people you need to protect.
