Video: UConn and South Carolina Final Four Press Conferences - 4/2/26

Geno is a giant in the field of coaching -- in any sport. When he speaks, all should listen, because he has in his heart the best interests of his sport and of those who play the game. And the coaching profession appreciates it.

As to his repartee with reporters, I have never seen him speak down to any questioner, or to belittle any question. I'm thinking back to Vince Lombardi, in the post-game presser after the first Super Bowl (then called the World Championship Game) in -- what was it -- 1967? Football was a lot less technical than it is today, and yet I recall him respectfully going off about the use of his linebackers in stacked and staggered defenses. His words were obviously passing right over the heads of many in the room (which included a lot of non-sports reporters). Sports writers must love questioning Geno. It may not have always been so, but it sure is today.

If there were a cabinet Department of Sports and Entertainment, I'd want Geno as its Secretary.

Sometimes the questions just make me shake my head.
I wish I was there just so I could have seen who asked the dumb question about the picture. The moderator is usually really good about not letting things like that get through. The NCAA will also give just about anyone a press pass
