Vic Scaefer has signed a 4-year extension contract to remain the head coach at Mississippi State until 2022. The state of Mississippi only allows 4-year contracts. Most of the coaches within the state usually signs extension in year two of their contracts to push it back to four years.

Very well deserved. I think he’s one of the top 3-4 coaches in the country. Next step is maintaining the high standard his teams have achieved the last two years.

There was some talk that A&M might come after Schaefer once Blair hangs up his whistle. I’m guessing Vic’s new contract pretty much ends such speculation.

Well deserved. His teams had no business making the title game the last two years without a single McDonald’s AA on the roster. If his recruiting ramps up, Mississippi State could become a big powerhouse.

Unless A&M really wanted him. Last year they committed $75 million guaranteed (10 years) to Jimbo Fisher to coach their football team. The A&M football program nets $70 million/year - $100 million revenue less $30 million expenses.

Texas A&M guaranteed $75 million to its new football coach. How can it afford that?
