VERY Interesting Bowl Statistic

Listening to College Sports Today on Sirius with Eddie George and Mark Packer (perennial BE basher) they just Talked about which conferences among the 6 power conferences has most bowl wins over the last 5 years.
1) SEC 29-16
2) BIG EAST 20-8
3) Big 12 19 wins
4) Acc 17 wins
5) Pac 12 16 wins
6) Big 10 13 wins

Eddie George gave UConn and Rutgers a little nod.

It gets even more interesting when you factor in winning %'s. BE has 2nd most bowl wins with only 8 temas in the league and 6 bowl tie ins. The other leagues all put 8-10 teams in bowl games per year. Did they break it down to look at bowl records in bowls v. other BCS leagues? I still think we'd finish pretty well in the winning % ratio there too.

The BE is not the dog of a league the talking heads would have you believe. We are more of a "butherface" conference. A nice little body of work, but not the pretty face to look at.

The Big East's problem has never been the quality of the play. It has been the lack of a big name/big dog team. Since Miami left, there nas not been a Michigan/USC/Texas level program that will be ranked nationally just for showing up.

No Packer brought it up as a "stump everyone at the bar" type trivia question...he is a pretty regular BE basher. Eddie George basically laughed at him and gave it to him pretty good about the BE showing him up with their record, then proceded to let Packer know that teams like UConn and Rutgers play pretty good football.
