I hope some day Kara Lawson analyzes guard development at Tennessee in a historical context.

I have to thank meyers7 for my avatar.... when he first posted this pic on the Warlick thread, in reference to Tennessee having an offense... I literally spit out my drink.... Needless to say, even if he hadn't put on a caption... I saw that these people in the pic really got it.... I mean look at them.... they really get it... now I can't stop laughing everytime I look at this pick, because I know they get how funny it is mentioning Tennessee and Offense in the same sentence.... So thank you meyers7... for making me laugh so hard everyday :p

Use are just thinking of the wrong definition of 'Offense' - I'll help you understand:
I think the tune Rocky Top is an offense to the ears.
TN should be arrested for the offense of playing terrible basketball
TN with the ball is an offense to the eyes of all sensible people.

You just have to ignore 3.a below! (My personal favorite and most apt when speaking of TN is #1)

Full Definition of offense
  1. 1a obsolete : an act of stumblingb archaic : a cause or occasion of sin : stumbling block

  2. 2: something that outrages the moral or physical senses

  3. 3a : the act of attacking : assaultb : the means or method of attacking or of attempting to scorec : the offensive team or members of a team playing offensive positionsd : scoring ability

  4. 4a : the act of displeasing or affrontingb : the state of being insulted or morally outraged <takes offense at the slightest criticism>

  5. 5a : a breach of a moral or social code : sin, misdeedb : an infraction of law; especially : misdemeanor

They are awesome together- Awesome. Each has there role. But Kara shines a little bit brighter in my eyes. But they are a great great team! The studio is made for Rebecca. Announcing the games is not her "thing" naturally.

Guess I'd have to go with the folks who prefer Lawson. Took me awhile to warm up to her and am glad she seems to have ditched that nose-wrinkle. Has developed into a real top-tier analyst and adds some real personality to boot. Lobo. though I continue to believe she really made our program and I certainly appreciate her bearing and her beauty, still seems rather stiff to me in the booth.

I really want to see Kara do a takedown of Stephen A Smith.

Don't look for that to happen for three reasons:
1. She's still the new kid on the block at ESPN. In addition to having his own show at ESPN - First Take (with Skip Bayless & Molly Qerim who is a UConn grad by the way), Steven A also has enough status and cachet at the world wide leader for her to not want to necessarily get into a urinating contest with him at this time.

She's still trying to secure a "toe hold" in the industry. An ill-advised act of that nature might not look good on her resume' for the future with respect to tenure and retention. She's doing a great job there, no reason to muddy the waters if you don't have to.

2. She may not feel that is her fight (right now). Remember its a wise man/woman who picks their battles carefully. There's always tomorrow.

3. If she chose to do so on camera, it would have to be with the blessings of the show's producer. That might not be a direction they want the show to go in. When you "rip" someone, there's always consequences.
Just ask Dan Shaughnessy.

Rebecca and Kara are the best, by far, Women Basketball analyst on the air
I think Kara is the best basketball analyst period. Male, female, college, pro...the best.

I actually admired Kara when she single-handedly kept Tenn in the championship game her senior year against Taurasi et al. I felt that but for her Tenn would have packed it in much earlier. Instead she pushed Taurasi to even greater heights to beat her.

Approximate if not verbatim: "I'm not a bean counter, but two more victories and Stewie has all the beans."

I agree that Kara is the best analyst. And the above quote is hilarious. I also loved it when Kara parodied Kim Mulkey's jacket removal and throw by doing the same at the TV camera in the studio. Kara obviously has a great sense of humor!

Dast we say that Kara is the UCONN of sports broadcasting?

agree here, Blue: if memory serves, and that's a big "if", Lawson pulled out several games late for the Vols during her senior year. She has one of the most invaluable intangibles, a major amount of guts. Geno talks about kids, in this day and age, who don't know how to play to win: Lawson knew.

Tennessee would be better with Kara Lawson as the HC than they ever were,IMO!

Really? Why would she make a great head coach? Does she have ANY coaching experience?
