Vanguard coach sounds like the Geno of NAIA

Vanguard played an exhibition game against Stanford last year and lost a nail-biter, 105-50. The 'experimental' rule changes will likely present a bigger challenge for the Huskies, that is unless sophomore guard Alyssa Durr plays like her sister Asia ;)

Vanguard coach, Russ Davis, also coaches Cal Swish AAU team, that KLS played for. Expect a Big Hug at the end of the game between the two..
One bittersweet note regarding Russ Davis. He lost one of his best friends and Asst coach for Cal Swish. Dan Wiley, about 10 days ago. Dan Wiley coached all three Samuelson sisters while they were at Edison HS and on Cal Swish.

By the way I usually go to a couple of Vanguard Lions game a year. One of the best hustling teams at any college level. You dont hustle, and know your assignments, get your butt back on the bench. I believe Vanguard is highly ranked in the preseason numbers this year, but I think they have lost some very good players the past few years. Vanguard also plays BC on this trip back east, after playing UCLA this past weekend in LA.
 
It's not easy to find exhibition opponents that represent more than just overwhelmed blowouts. But Geno seems to find teams that are deserving of playing a team like UConn. Usually it's a great coach, a team that has some great players, or a team that has distinguished itself in some manner. Everyone is a winner in these games.

Kidding, with a coach like Coach Davis I bet they play tough. Samantha Douchette, was within 200 miles of an ancestor--who was Mayor of Port Royal in the first decade of the 1600's that on what is NOW known as Nova Scotia . Samantha got 23 point against the Black Bears...

Thank you for that!! Geno has for YEARS been a friend of the good coach from needy teams. Every notice the number of schools that had names like Vanguard or Little Sisters who do great works or the like that Geno went out of his way to offer the 60,000 or more these teams get to play Uconn. It's part of the UConn Teams/Christine/Geno give back programs. What is not to love!!!

After reading the write up about Coach Davis--your second paragraph is what I expected of his coaching style. But also interesting is the KLS -Davis connection. Pay back isn't always BAD..
Losing a true friend is a terrible loss, my heart goes out to Coach Davis and to KLS, Bonnie and the Tween siss (Karlie??).

No offense taken. When you pull numbers out of a chart they do look bizarre. BTW your post was funny. I just decided to make things easier. But I am a dope about the Durr joke. Whizzed right over my head.
