Starting post player and senior Kaylon Smith will miss the season with a torn achilles. She joins starting guards Jordyn Cambridge and Iyanna Moore with season-ending injuries. Vandy is now down to nine players, three of whom are freshmen who have yet to play a college minute. It's going to be a long, hard slog in Nashville. Still, I think these kids will play their hearts out.

I assume this is a big reason Vandy is picked last in the SEC. :(
I think this announcement came out too recently; it was the loss of Cambridge and Moore that had the media sticking a fork in Vandy, I think - though maybe that's what you meant? A healthy 'Dore squad would have won some games they weren't supposed to and been a fun team to watch.

How awful. When it rains it pours.

Sooner or later there has to be some good news for Vanderbilt.

And the way undersized Vandy needs to play with alot of pressing defense. Just brutal on the court as well as personally.

I hate it for them and any player going through injuries. Prayers for a speedy and full recovery.
I was going to post something very similar to this. Injuries are one of the very few things I've always hated about being a sports fan. A long time ago, as a child who didn't understand life, I always wished for at least one season where every player on every team (regardless if I rooted for or against them) could compete for a full season at full strength. We all know that sadly isn't and never will be the case. I feel for these players and every other player that has and will go through something similar. Wishing them and all other injured players the fastest and most successful recoveries possible.

My heart and prayers go out to the injured players on that Vandy squad. Like everyone has stated, wishing those players a safe and speedy recovery.

All this happening to Vandy is especially sad given Shea Ralph's personal story of an injury-plagued UConn career and an early end to her playing career. Shea rose above her own misfortune to become a key coaching component for so many great Huskies teams, so I suspect she'll somehow pull things together for her team.
