Vanderbilt 2025

This message reminds me what college athletics could be and should be about, and, I suspect, it is more prevalent than we realize in these days of the traveling mercenaries. It’s also important to acknowledge that Justine herself took advantage of transfer rules to get to Vanderbilt, so there is some good to the system to go along with the bad.

Seems like a natural.

The way I figure, we are gonna face either Little C or Texas in the Vegas Tournament so they aren't gonna schedule a rematch a few days later. We played L$U twice this past season, so that leaves Vandy. Did you guys host this past season or did y'all go on the road?

Hosted last season against Virginia, but went on the road the first two years at N.C. State then Miami. I don’t think coach Ralph will have a problem with it either way. She likes getting them out on the road (or neutral site) for a pre-conference challenge. I imagine Kara would have a similar attitude. Was Duke at home last year for the Challenge?

Probably a bit early, but I got a strong feeling it will be Vandy and Duke in next seasons SEC vs ACC challenge.
I was hoping Kara got her return to Knoxville this year for it….but that’s not happening! Lol So yeah, Vandy makes the most sense.

.-.
Pissot seems like a good second round pick. Her size and shooting skills should be an asset at the next level that would make a good chess piece off the bench. She probably needs to work on her ability to drive and handle the ball. I could see her getting a developmental spot on a WNBA team and working her way into being a solid rotational player for her career.

Duke hosted L$U. First time hosting, the previous two times we were on the road

Yeah. I thought that might happen soon... But looks like that will have to wait a few years

Any thoughts on Ava Black entering the portal? Seemed to have a great HS career but working her way back from a torn ACL and playing behind Blakes won't give you much playing time. Feel bad for Shea losing her but I hope this gives Ava more of an opportunity to showcase herself.

Classy statement - class act. I've been rooting for her since she transferred to Vandy. Volnation was not nice to her, so I'm glad it all worked out for her. Wish her success at the next level.

I’m sad to see Ava go. She got better and earned more playing time as the season progressed, to the point that she was not only one of the first off the bench but was being used at the end of some games for her defense and rebounding. She’s tough.

I’m not sure what is going on with her knee. Two years out, and she’s wearing a full support brace that obviously hindered her a little bit. Maybe it was just a security thing. I can only assume she and Aga Makurat both were unhappy with their expected roles for next season. Of the players left on the roster after four seniors/grads moved on, they were the two who could have moved into starting positions on the wings. The fact that both are leaving tells me the staff has plans to bring in starter-level players in the portal, leaving Aga and Ava in reserve roles. Just my guess, but I think I’m right.

Happy to see Ava go to another P4 school where she has a chance to get more playing time:
