Vanderbilt 2025

My all-time favorite Vandy player has joined the coaching staff of my second-favorite team, Belmont. Great place to learn under Bart Brooks, who learned at the knee of Doug Bruno. Couldn't be happier for Jordyn.

Emily McDonald, a 6'0 pg/sg who plays at Long Island Lutheran, has picked up a Vandy offer. She's ranked #41 on ESPN's Hoopgurlz for '26. Maryland, Michigan State, Indiana, TCU and several Ivy League schools and some ACC programs have also offered.

Vandy offers Jazman Bailey, a 5'9 guard out of Mansfield Lake Ridge High School in Texas who was just named to USA Basketball's U16 team. Class of '27. Ranked #37 on Hoopgurlz.

Virginia plays at Vanderbilt in the ACC-SEC challenge this season. This is the first time Vandy gets to play at home in the event after going to N.C. State and Miami in the first two seasons. The full schedule, both men and women:

I tend to be critical of what passes for "dunks" in woman's basketball, but this is a functional dunk that could be used in a game. How tall is she?
She's 6'2. She could dunk last season, though it was not nearly as emphatically. Also, she seemed to need to pick the ball up and run with it the last few steps. Now, she's dribbling all the way to the rim and legit throwing it down.

Most unheralded and underrated player in the nation?
Khamil had an odd circumstance as a sophomore playing with one of the most highly touted freshmen in the country, Mikayla Blakes. But, while Blakes got a lot of the outside attention, I think Khamil profited from all the attention Mikayla was getting from other defenses on the court. Those defenses pretty much had to play Khamil honestly. Still, when you also consider that she was forced to play out of position at the 5 all season, it's pretty remarkable what she was able to do.

As for being unheralded and underrated, you are dead on target. She averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds and shot 50 percent from the field while playing out of position. No one will ever convince me that's not good enough to make one of the All-SEC teams, but she didn't.

Man, at 6'2" she's got some serious hops.

The SEC opponents have been set. Vandy plays Kentucky twice this season.
