[QUOTE="Onions, post: 2049877, member: 3284"] It is amazing how complimentary the seasons of our two most played freshman has become. In looking at their play since January, the season can be broken down into 2 groups of 6 games each. In the first 6 game group, against Memphis, UCF, Temple, Georgetown, Smu and ECU, Vance Jackson looked like he was figuring things out. He was in double digits in 5 of the six games, averaging 11.3 points on 53% shooting from the field while going 14 for 25 (that’s 56%) from beyond the arc. Throw in over 4 rebounds a game, 8 assists to 8 turn overs, and he was becoming a real weapon. In that same 6 games stretch CV was struggling with his game. He was averaging 5.3 points per game on 32% shooting from the field and only 4 of 18 from deep (22%.) 10 assists to 7 turnovers and 3 rebounds a game and in this whole stretch he never once approached double digits in scoring. All of this, the good and the bad, goes into complete reversal during the next 6 games against USF, Tulane, Cinci, USF, UCF and last nights game against Memphis. In this 6 game stretch CV has been over double digits every single game, averaging 13.8 points on 48% shooting from the field and 19-36 from 3 (52%). His Assist to TO ratio is better than 3 to 1 (17 to 5) while adding in just over 4 rebounds a game. As great a boost as this has given us Vance has gone in the exact opposite direction. 5 ppg on 30% shooting, 6 of 16 from 3 (38%) with 15 assists to 11 turnovers and 5 rebounds a nite. Playing time, due to injuries, has been fairly consistent for both players since January, so these numbers reflect real performance. Freshman are notoriously inconsistent, game to game and even minute by minute. It would be nice to imagine the outcome if we could get both of these guys performing at their best on the same night.
