Vampire thread

After being away a little over a week I come back to the Boneyard and what do I see heading the Conference Realigment board but the ACC thread. Two questions:

1. Only a wooden stake can kill a vampire, does anyone know what will kill a zombie thread?
2. At what point does a thread become it's own board? Is it a matter of evolution? I ask because the ACC one has been around so long that the gills are starting to become lungs and the fins, feet.
