Right about 8 1/2 lbs. Biggest bass I've seen in CT personally.Weight?
I'm going to spend next summer fishing the Quabbin Reservoir like old times. They do rent boats. Got everything freshwater in there.Weight? 9#? Getting back to fishing was my goal in retirement. It's been ten years. This summer it'll happen.

I'd be happy to help you get back into it. Fishing has been my passion since the age of 7.Weight? 9#? Getting back to fishing was my goal in retirement. It's been ten years. This summer it'll happen.

I mainly fish out of 43 and 8. All 3 gates offer access to great areas for Smallmouth Bass and Lake Trout. Although I never target Lake Trout, they make a great "bycatch" when Smallmouth fishing. View attachment 114455
Don't sleep on the pickerel, bony but sizable in the Quabbin. And the smallmouth and rock bass are excellent.I mainly fish out of 43 and 8. Sorry to derail this thread, but my parents have a pond in their back yard and its full of bass. Over a decade ago, due a neighbor using a ton of fertilizer, we had a massive die off and every fish floated belly up (bass, catfish, yellow perch, etc). A few years ago my brothers and I caught a few big bass (maybe 4 or 5 total) that are 3-4 lbers and transferred them to my parents pond. Over the years they have spawned and produced literally hundreds of small little bass <.5 lbs that aren't getting bigger. As of now the pond is exclusively bass. I've been told we need a apex predator in the pond to cull the little ones to get more larger sized bass. Does anyone knows where I can get some pickerel, either purchased for stocking or a great location to catch some near Cheshire I would appreciate it. Apologies again for derailing the thread. If anyone has advice please DM me!I mainly fish out of 43 and 8. All 3 gates offer access to great areas for Smallmouth Bass and Lake Trout. Your post just brought back a memory from when I was about 10 years old. I had moved from NYC to Newtown, CT during the summer between 2nd and 3rd grade. After learning to fish for a couple years, I caught a Largemouth Bass that was about 20". We took some pics and released her back into Lake Lillinonah. Apparently, the kid I was with bragged the Bass up to 27" and people believed him. He even mentioned the "27" Bass" on Facebook not long ago. I never said much...who was I to ruin a perfectly good fish story?😃I lived in a lake in Monson, Massachusetts when I was a kid. On a yearly basis, I would catch two or three five pound bass. An otter family decided to take up residence one year. By the next year there were no more bass to catch.
I guess it's better than losing fish to chemicals, but as a kid who had just caught the fishing bug, it really sucked.

p.s. To this day, the longest Largemouth Bass I ever caught was 24.25".
