Impressive freshman. Wonder if UConn has any of those?

We've had a few. But . . . we always have an excuse: they're only a freshman, we are young, etc. Time to join the game circa this millennium - if a kid can play, they can play. In fact, that is one edge UConn could have on the recruiting trail - "We haven't been good, so if you are as talented as you think you are (and as we think you are), you ought to be able to see the field right from the jump.

UCONN has ruined college football for me. The fact that numerous G5 schools are capable of putting together an offensive unit that produces annoys the crap out of me. Then you watch things like unranked Texas march all over ND with a true freshman QB makes me want to punch things.

I like Diaco, I do. But for the love of God, next time hire someone with an offensive mind. I'm defensed out.

Been saying that same thing since Randy E announced he was leaving. UConn program going nowhere but backward til they come to grips with the fact that college football is all about offense and scoring lots of points and scoring quickly.

Yes freshman who start right away are a dime a dozen. So much so that Texas had their 2nd true frosh QB ever open the season. Oh yeah.....the other one was in 1944. Some guy named Bobby Lane. Oy vey

Never intended this post to be limited to just the QB position. Could possibly apply to 21 other positions . . . Bobby Layne

So for nine months you are no where to be found. Season starts and here you are with your same spiel.

I'd say you've reached attention seeking troll status.

College football isn't any more about offense than it is defense. We've just been a lot more competent at one than the other.

Led with shoulder from my vantage point. Also didn't launch himself. Just a good hit.

Post-game analysis, the big surprise is that the call was not reviewed at all. ND's requested that it be reviewed, it was declined. Some one on twitter posted a real good slow motion view of the play from the back of the endzone.

Initial contact by the Texas defender was helmet to helmet and the follow through motion made the second and harder contact shoulder to helmet. Launching is harder to call as it was more of a horizontal movement than vertical. The Texas defender pushing from behind may have also drove the ND receiver into the Texas defender. So, I would not have called it targeting; but, initial contact was to the head. That's an automatic personal foul in college football.

The real surprise is that the NCAA in the name of player safety has given the authority the the Replay Official to automatically review any play where targeting maybe an issue starting this year (2016). Unless it was the result of a head to ground it, such as a player getting flipped, any play where a player is tackled hard and left on the ground semi-conscious for a few minutes should be reviewed to make sure there wasn't a foul. There was plenty of time for the XII Replay Official to review the call; but, ND's Kelly, who went after the referees after the play and after the game was told there was no replay and the Official could not review it. So, either the XII did not know of the new rules or chose to ignore them.

Brian Kelly not happy Hunter hit wasn't reviewed

I can't stand both arrogant programs; but, player safety has to come first.

Take a look at scores from around the country: offense is vastly superior to defenses.
