Hey, she's got contractual obligations to meet. Don't hate on her hustle!!!Yes, but during most of the timeouts, Paige was also doing commercials for Nike or Gatorade…..![]()

Yes, not Final Four games. Here is a copy of your statement, the bold portion shows that you did. There is the Final Four and the Championship game.
"24 Final Fours and 12 National Titles looks far prettier than 24 and 11.
Tired of being under .500 in Final Fours."
I don't thk tht they minimized Azzi, she had good looks but her shots just weren't falling, but good shooters always thk tht their next shot is going in. She passed up a unbelievably open layup one time and my cat jumped up and started smacking my dog, .... smh cats are crazyI wonder if USC overlooked Kaitlyn. After all, how many Huskies can they game plan for? They did great job minimizing Azzi & our bigs. They tried denying Paige.
Somehow, Chen sneaked under the radar!
That is the great thing about depth. The role players don't have to be great every night. You can have KK come in one night and completely change the game then Shade be everywhere and score a dozen followed by Chen having her best game as a husky.Great win in a game where you clearly didn't play your best. I thought the defense was good tonight but KK and Shade both were way less than usual on that end of the court which matters. Paige had a good night but missed several shots she usually doesn't miss and the rebounding outside of Sarah as poor to say the least.
Huge plus of the game was KC who in my opinion played her first good game when playing a quality team. She is good on offense yet often doesn't get engaged on that end of the floor buut last night she made some plays that were vital to the win and she will need to continue her play next weekend for UConn to beat UCLA.
Jana is a beast but she doesn't keep the ball up and away from the little people on her shots and rebounds. She needs to get a personal coach to team her how to play the post in the offseason because she isn't getting it in practice with the team. She is young and will get it but Friday will be a big test for her.
The latest per40 spreadsheet contains a tab labelled Kaitlyn comparing her performance in the last 10 games against the first 28 of the seaason. It is an eye-opener.Some thoughts on the USC game:
- Congratulations to the Huskies on reaching an unprecedented 24th Final Four, their 16th in the last 17 seasons.
- I told you guys at the start of the season that Kaitlyn Chen would come up BIG in the biggest games for UConn this season. I will try not to dislocate my shoulder patting myself on the back.
- Bring on Lauren Betts and the Bruins. GO HUSKIES!!!
UCLA beat LSU by 7 points by shooting 16 more free throws. LSU outscored them from the floor.Plus: UCLA beat LSU due to their trey shooting not Betts. Think they had 10 with
a good shooting percentage...hope that is a one-off.
"The FT shooting discrepancy was an absolute disgrace. It was almost single-handedly keeping USC in the game in the second half." This is almost literally what I said to my husband!Wow. What a game.
Sarah was HUGE in this game. I’ve said it before but if this is how Sarah is as a freshman, she is going to be scary good in the years to come. She was doing it on both ends of the floor and helped our offense come alive when we were struggling.
And then Chen caught fire. And then Paige hit that huge three to cap off the first half. And when we needed Azzi the most, she finally came alive and got us some huge buckets. And I can’t not mention the contributions of Shade, Ice, Jana, Aubrey, and KK, all of whom provided valuable energy, rebounds, and hustle. UConn was not going to win the game without a team effort — so they played as a team and ground out a win. Absolute energy on both ends.
Maybe this game would have ended differently if JuJu hadn’t gotten hurt. Or maybe it wouldn’t have. Unfortunately, none of us can say for sure. This was definitely Sarah’s revenge game though after the loss earlier this season.
As an aside, I’m still haunted by that loss to tOSU a few seasons ago. It’s so nice to see UConn be able to break the press!!

This was a battle and we won it. Enjoy the evening and now on to the next. Unfinished business. Let’s get it.
Yeah, we almost lost Geno on that travel by Azzi!I don't thk tht they minimized Azzi, she had good looks but her shots just weren't falling, but good shooters always thk tht their next shot is going in. reupping this question since I didnt see an answerwho is on crutches -- Cheli?
The discrepancy was very understandable. Other than Strong handling Iriafen, UConn had nobody else big enough or capable of playing interior defense on Marshall. She shot 10 FTs, most on the team, because UConn had to hold and hack to keep her from making layups."The FT shooting discrepancy was an absolute disgrace. If they couldn't handle Marshall, the question is how are they going to stop Betts? She's certainly not as mobile as Marshall but once she has the ball down low, she's virtually impossible to stop.......looking forward to seeing Geno's game plan.....The discrepancy was very understandable. The problem wasn't so much Marshall as Marshall & Iriafen together. If Jana /Ice arent in, Sarah can't guard them both.If they couldn't handle Marshall, the question is how are they going to stop Betts? Yes. A 5-out set ought to pose problems for UCLA’s big lineup. Assuming we hit our perimeter shots. Betts cannot guard Sarah out there. They’ll have to play Dugalic or Barker at the 5, especially if the transition game gets rolling. The problem wasn't so much Marshall as Marshall & Iriafen together. If Jana /Ice arent in, Sarah can't guard them both.
On the flip side, can Betts guard on the perimeter?
A Chen-Azzi-Paige-Shade-Strong lineup will hopefully pose a challenge
This moment of silence brought to you by Werner Ladder. (Pan to lonely unused ladder with wind gently blowing still intact net)Ladders, ladders, ladders ... I know they have to put them out there (ad$) however read in an article that sounded like the writer had no idea that UConn doesn't cut nets until the natty.
One other element I notice about Betts. She really needs the ball deep in the low post to be effective. If you muscle her out of the low blocks, beyond 2 ft from the basket, she’s not effective. In Jana, Ice & Sarah we have 3 strong young ladies capable of doing just that.Maybe they won't.They'd better blitz the guards and keep them from getting her the ball. If they do get it to her, then use 10 fouls and hope she misses a lot.
