They’re there because they take up more space. There’s no reason the screener has to be a post player all the time.

It's time for: "LET'S GO TO THE VIDEOTAPE"!I don't know who you are referring to here, but Shade was wide open at the arc. It was a bad, rushed shot without looking for her teammates and no UConn player in any position to rebound if she missed.
Thirteen minutes for ICE BRADY and Eight for AZZI = 21 minutesAzzi only played a few minutes.
I think the big issue is "can they develop toughness"? I just see more parity among teams now and face it, some recruits "just don't have it". NIL may prove to be a nail in the WBB coffin. Making money the chief arbiter for getting good recruits is a very questionable dubious sidestep for the game. I think the game has already seen some negatives in that avenue. Apparently basketball is tied in with the outside world's feelings toward UConn as a university and perhaps, just perhaps, our BB teams may very well be what makes this university tick. In a rapidly deadening world fraught with ugliness, BB may very well be our lifesaver, society-wise.The challenge we face now is -- with Big East competition, our bigs will not see top competition and have the opportunity to improve and prepare for facing top tourney teams. I think once Aubrey is back, we should focus on small-ball and use Sarah/Aubrey at the 5 and develop Morgan at the 4.
The other issue with BE Competition is unless we beat So Carolina, our ceiling will be a mid-to-low 2 seed. We will have no signature wins.
On a side note, Morgan is becoming my favorite and Sarah is as good as any freshman we have had in 25 years (and yes that includes Maya)
I just wonder what her recruitment saw in her first time around. Tangibles may well be obvious but perhaps we have a harder time analyzing the intangibles in a potential recruit. Think back to Amari's recruitment. How did "we" miss on her, why did we not see the passiveness inherent in her personality structure? This marvelously sweet young lady lacked the potential to manufacture adrenaline in her personality structure. She was so structured against the necessary aggression that has to render one competitive. She could not get mad enough to want to fight back. She will find her niche in life and become successful in her chosen area, I'm sure of it.What happened to Brady? So highly rated in high school but now cant even defend, score, dribble, etc.
