USC Gamecocks - The Offseason 2025

Ouch! O room to redshirt our freshmen. Everybody is on the two-deep.

PG: Raven Johnson, Maddy.
SG: Latson, McKeer
W: Tessa Johnson, Ayla McDaniel
SF: Edwards, Dauda, Tac
C: Okot, Tac, Dauda

3of those ten will use up their eligibility this year . Probably a 4th (Okot) as well. Kitts and Watson can come back next year and be joined by Kelsi Andrews to bring us up to only 9 for next year.

Ouch indeed. I’m so sorry to hear about Chloe. I hope she rehabs quickly and that she and Ashlyn come back strong. They don’t deserve this.

As for the two deep idea, I have a feeling Agot will not be stuck at SG. If she’s healthy, she may well spend a lot of time at wing or even at the 4. I get that her game depended in part on being too big for opposing guards to handle, and she’ll be small as a 4. But she still might be able to bring something special to that spot. And just maybe, with Agot Joyce Taniya Tessa and Raven, Dawn has the makings of an intriguing small-ball lineup sort of like what Geno pulled off last season.

Ahhhh….ok. I only recognize Chuck Taylors. 🤣

I'd move McDowell to the 4 before Makeer. Makeer doesn't have the muscle to play the 4 and we are too thin in the backcourt to move her away. McDowell has more of an inside game than Makeer from what I've seen in the international play. Makeer would get abused defensively.

We could deploy an interesting "positionless" type of play with a bunch of the taller guards and quicker forwards (example: McDaniel, T. Johnson, Makeer, McDowell, Edwards).

Starting to run a little low on forwards, but we'll manage (hopefully)! The extra minutes for Joyce will catapult her into superstardom.

I wish nothing but the best for Chloe (and Ashlyn) during her recovery.

Brutal loss for South Carolina. Kitts always played her butt off and brought a ton of fire to the court.

Kind of surreal how just 2 years ago South Carolina unleashed a brand new young post-Freshies lineup and now Raven/Tessa are the lone holdovers from that team on this upcoming roster. I think most at the time were anticipating a 2025-26 starting 5 of Raven, Tessa, Fulwiley, Kitts and Watkins.

Tough break for Chloe but the brace looked pretty ominous. Going to need Maryam and Adhel to show out this season. Maryam had a huge jump in production as a sophomore at Arky so hopefully she’ll have the same kind of jump here this season. Last season’s numbers looked similar to those her freshman season.

Certainly means McDowell and Makeer will be counted on to play more.

Joyce averaged 21 min last season. Believe that will jump about 10 mins or so this year. No players playing limited minutes this season due to roster. Praying this is it for the injuries.

Tessa is replacing Kitts at SEC media day tomorrow.
If anybody is well suited for media days, it is definitely Tessa. 🗣😁

Fun watch. Madina looks even better than I thought. Great hands. Fast feet. Very athletic. I’m even more excited about her potential. Good player for Tac to play behind as she acclimates her way into the rotation. Thanks for posting.
She is something of a late bloomer, but she's legit! I was convinced after watching her play against Vanderbilt (yes, I know--it's Vandy). I would expect her to be drafted in the first round.

We’ll see where Latson ends up at the end of the season. Chloe’s injury should open up more scoring opportunities for her.

Latson on the second team seems...odd. 🤨🤨 There isn't a team (that matters) in the conference that doesn't know about her.

I hate it for Chloe.

I thought USC announcing her for media days was a good sign but obviously not.

I think that forward, as bad as this is, is the best place to suffer an injury.

This puts pressure on Joyce Edwards to be as good as she should be. I had a little more confidence in Kitts making the correct decision and defending. It was relatively close though.

As far as depth, I don't think it's normal or even desirable to be 13 deep in players that need minutes.

Very few basketball teams really play even ten players significant minutes, but that kind of depth really did tend to rule out major upsets.

it's been awhile since SCar needed contributions from players who hadn't done it it before.

It kind of seemed like Chloe might treat WNBA anyway, but if she and Watkins were to return it would extend the window another year and maybe offset this struggle of a recruiting class.

I'm maybe more surprised that Joyce Edwards was voted first team.

Probably a little home conference bias for Blakes and the LSU guards working against Latson. I don't have any problem with it.

All great players but I'm guessing that if those players had transferred into ACC the vote would have gone for Latson.

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a second-team AP All American then be on the preseason second team for their conference, but preseason honors really just help get the buzz of the season going anyway nothing more. Players new to a conference have to “earn” it there first a lot of the time. Olivia Miles is probably the best player in the Big 12 but Crooks has had two stellar seasons already and got the preseason nod.
