You ever been to Memphis? It's Beale Street......and then nothing else but trash. It's a very depressing city IMO.

At least they don't put mustard in their BBQ. ;)

I've enjoyed visiting Memphis. I couldn't live there, too many perspective calories and temptations
Raiding So Cal for the new AC. Wonder how much he played in getting Juju to commit to the Trojans. :p

Going from the real U$C to you know :p

I actually like the North Carolina BBQ better since I now live there and have tried it. The friends I have in North Carolina like the mustard type better now. They have switched to the mustard base. Go figure.

Chloe is thriving at SC and will likely be a starter + team captain this year. Plus she has complete and total trust from Dawn. The only player on the team Dawn probably trusts more is Raven. Plus Chloe’s parents are ADAMANTLY Team Dawn… even if she wanted to leave, Dad would probably talk her out of it. Lol

You can never say never, but I think Chloe is fine.

From what I understand, the South Carolina staff gave her sister a look and decided to not pursue.
That seems odd to me. I know Kylee reclassed but she was a Top 25 HS player in her original class plus she would be a RS freshman so the staff would have plenty of developmental time with her.

Just saw news that Kylee is on an official visit to NC State.

Has anyone noticed the shift in discourse surrounding Ta'Niya since she committed/signed? It went from, "it's too bad that Latson isn't getting the attention and recognition she deserves despite her amazing stats! I hope she lands with a team that will give her more exposure" to "well, she's not going to be happy averaging 12 ppg for South Carolina! I think she'll slide down the draft boards for making this choice"--as if we're supposed to believe that playing for a much better coach and with better teammates is somehow supposed to be detrimental to her development.

If Ta'Niya wasn't getting the recognition despite having eye-popping scoring stats and that was enough for her to leave her previous team (to go to a better basketball program), then wouldn't it mean that she's not married to those stats? It's not like this program hasn't ever had 20ppg scorers and hasn't had first-team All-Americans before. While she may not lead the country in scoring next season (big whoop), she will still be in the mix for conference (in this case, SEC) POY, first-team AA, SEC/NCAA championships, and WNBA lottery pick 2026, etc.--all the things that were in question had she remained at FSU.

Like, do people actually think that Ta'Niya walks around and says, "Hi! I'm Ta'Niya Latson. I led the nation in scoring in 2024-25 at 25ppg!"

Wendale's resume checks out: former D1 player (EMU), former SEC assistant (Vandy) in 2015-16, subsequent stops at Cal and Southern Cal (started out as a video coordinator at UCLA in early 2010s), a Pac-12 tourney title in 2024 a B1G regular season title in 2025, and [might have been] main recruiter for JuJu Watkins (and Kennedy Smith).

Honestly, he appears to be more qualified than Winston was when he was hired.

Think maybe Dawn is hoping for some help tapping in to that west coast talent. We’ve gotten 2 transfers from there but no freshmen. Maybe Wendale can help with that. We are recruiting several from that area.

Sometimes you’ve got to ignore the negative noise. Why? Because people are always going to have something to say, good or bad. With Dawn Staley as HC, I don’t think the SCAR fans have anything to worry about. The ship isn’t sinking, it’s only very slightly shifted, but that’s the nature of the women’s game now. And this admirer of your program (when you’re not playing my team) believes that everything will be okay. Again, ignore the naysayers.
Have a great summer everyone!!

Sometimes you got to add some negative noise in order to keep the natives in check

Not sure if anyone is in Skim’s discord but according to him Fulwiley asked for back at SC and was denied. This account is usually pretty reliable and one of the few who owns up when off on things.
I heard that (not sure how true it is). If there's any shred of truth to it, then my respect for Dawn reaches levels that I didn't know existed. Either you're "all in" or you're "clearly out". No half-stepping. We've got DAWGS ready to eat. No time to coddle those whose feelings/ego might've been hurt.

Its alot there…other than Beale street
Memphis has its issues but there are wonderful entertainment options too, like Memphis Zoo (always within top 3 in US), Shelby Farms, Graceland, National Civil Rights Museum, Sun Studio, Memphis Riverfront & Tom Lee Park, eating BBQ, etc.

Don't forget the Peabody with the famous ducks

Wherever Lay goes, I just need JaMeesia to stay and not follow. That’s my only concern about this situation.

Oh man. Like SCSpur says, that definitely sucks. At the same time, this was a possibility once she entered the portal. Still, what a shame that it's ended up this way.

Social media has been hinting at a certain player’s mother being the catalyst behind this ever since she entered the portal.

Somehow adding Latson, who seems like the best case outcome for Fulwiley, has been completely obscured by the transfer out. Granted, much of it is concern trolling by the haters, but still notable.

Latson is the rare volume shooter with pretty solid efficiency.

For those that wonder about the fit though, her shot volume is not very different from Cooke or Fulwiley and at least at FSU made more sense than what Fulwiley was trying to do half the time.

I'm very interested to see if this works well and probably my biggest concern is how it plays defensively.

I am happy with the Okot commitment.

I thought during the few occassions when Dawn was able to get good minutes from Tac that the forwards beside her looked so much more natural.

Granted they took the rest of the season figuring it out somewhat well, but this is a nice option.

I haven't watched her enough to really know where she is as a player and talent. Maybe there is untapped potential beyond the very impressive college debut.

I saw enough to know she's maybe not an automatic bucket, but she's far from unskilled offensively.

Can she close the paint? Can she be run off the floor? I don't know.

I know that I expected an easier transition for Dauda, so not sure exactly what to expect.

Having found and watched all three All Star games now:

Makeer: my thoughts did not change much about her. Going to be an all around player but I think it might take awhile. I do take the injury point and will say that maybe she looked a little off in Jordan game. But in general, I think her offensive game will struggle a bit in the NCAA. She does some things that are not going to get her very far against top level defense.

McDowell: I came into all star season thinking that maybe we had a bit of a tweener that might fall somewhere in the Beal/Hall/Grissett/Kiki range, but she impressed me quite a bit. If SCar does not end up signing another guard, I think maybe she can help more than I was thinking and that her ultimate upside might be higher than I thought.
