While the portal as currently implemented is bad for the sport, I do appreciate that it gives me something to follow. I don't give two flips about college baseball outside of the CWS, and our recently departed AD /spits on ground/ made sure that will not be a concern for Carolina fans for years to come.

Basketball portal, women and men, is at least something to follow.

Enjoying softball too much to care really. Going for the sweep vs the upstaters tonight. I believe the network that aired the baseball series last weekend showed a graphic of marked improvement for Manieri’s programs at ND and LSU between year one and two. Hope the same happens here ‘cause right now, the pitchforks are definitely out among the ‘locals’. :eek:
 
I assume these pics are from today. If so, good to see Tessa in there doing work. Makes me have a little less anxiety about her possibly entering the portal. Can’t wait for the 23rd to come around and the no sit out portal to be closed.

Roster as of right now:

PG- Raven, Maddy,
SG- Ta’Niya, Agot,
SF- Tessa, Ayla,
PF- Chloe, Joyce, Maryam
C- Ashlyn(?), Adhel

Hopefuls: Kneepkens(would play the 2/3), Okot (pretty much waiting on a visa to announce and would play the 5).

Okot and Kneepkens would make the roster go to 13. Adding a knock down shooter and a Center with tremendous upside is huge.

I think Tessa will have a big year shooting the ball but adding someone like Kneepkens would give SC shooting we’ve never seen. I know Paopao was an outstanding shooter but outside of her and Tessa the team lacked consistency there. This coming season will be different I think. You have Tessa, Ayla, and Agot who can all consistently knock it down and then you have Latson who also can’t be left alone out there. Adding Kneepkens to that would give our Posts a lot more opportunities to work in the paint than we had this past season. I think Okot demands more attention down low just being 6’6” alone but she was also 4th nationally in FG% and nearly averaged a double-double so I think she would be a huge addition for us.

Your analysis as a whole seems right to me. I just wonder about putting Ashlyn at C and Maryam at PF. Wouldn’t it make more sense to think of it the other way around? Or has Maryam shown some PF skills I’m unaware of? Or the foot speed for that position?

With Chloe and Joyce manning the 4 I’m not sure Ashlyn will get very many minutes there, especially if Okot’s Visa doesn’t come through. She’ll definitely be a PF at the next level but her rebound and defense was sorely needed after she went down and she’s more effective at the 5 than Maryam. All of this is just speculation because I’m not even sure if she’ll play this year or come back later in the season.

Okot is going to have much more room to work than she did at Miss State. Eniya Russell was their second leading scorer.

I can honestly see 15 &12 to go with about 2 blocks per game. She’s just touching the surface on how good she will become. With the right coaches and teammates pushing her she’ll be a force.
 
Can someone alleviate my worry that Chloe won't hit the portal? She isn't in any of the summer workout videos and photos as far as I am aware and it's making me nervous.

And, to be honest, Debreasha Powe was their only dependable 3-point shooter.

Any chance that she's waiting to see where her sister ends up?
I posted that I thought it would be good if her sister transferred to SoCar to be on the same team as Chloe. I have nothing to back that up with.
BTW I think Chloe would be a great addition for the Huskies. :)

From what I understand, the South Carolina staff gave her sister a look and decided to not pursue.

To be honest, I hope Chloe stays at SoCar, I like how she plays.

Would be really surprised to see Chloe go. She’s got one year left and has been our most consistent player and is thriving here. The second half of her season was on an AA level. I know her BF has declared for the draft, but he’s from Columbia so it just wouldn’t make sense. There’s only been one day of video posted so maybe she wasn’t there today for whatever reason.

That said, who knows what they are thinking these days. :confused::confused:

Unless we plan to use every scholarship for the first time in memory, younger Kitts should be offered regardless, albeit with an honest “it’s going to be hard for you to make it on the court.”

Tessa’s boyfriend Zac Davis transferring to Memphis. He’s from Orangeburg. Tessa seems good and solid at USC so there’s that.

You ever been to Memphis? It's Beale Street......and then nothing else but trash. It's a very depressing city IMO.
 
Raiding So Cal for the new AC. Wonder how much he played in getting Juju to commit to the Trojans. :p
