USA U18 in action today in FIBA Championship games

Liv just picked up her third trying to defend on the perimeter

I wonder how many of their shots the USA will have to block before they stop driving the lane?

Ok let me be the first to speculate that the U17 might just smoke this team.
I haven't seen one quality pass from this team yet and the defensive techniques are HORRIBLE!

ONO has to learn to defend with her feet and not her hands.

With all the travelling and double dribble calls this half is looking more like an U15 than an U18 game .

I like Walz's substitution pattern. 5 in, 5 out. Everyone plays. The team on the floor is always fresh. :)
Argentina is NOT doing a lot of substituting.

yikes ............the rims look just as tight............some really long rebounds on missed shots........even easy layups are an adventure............seems to me that the team just runs better when CW is out on the court..........

Us Up 38 to 15 at the half. Prince the only player looking like a player out there.

When our girls learn to block shots without using the "fly swat" technique, they won't have as many fouls called against them, and they'll keep their opponents off the stripe. ;)

not sure about that but this team could certainly use Bueckers or Van Lith and Fudd

Just tuned in the start of the 2nd.

Initial observations.

1. no annoying horn :)
2. offense looks ragged
3. @CocoHusky is correct. I would take the U17 team at this point but it is early.
4. I was a little surprised the offense was on 70 something in the exhibition game over Canada but it looks like that might be all this team is going to get offensively.
5. Lots of fouls called
6. Glad my spanish is on point

Two of the UConn future stars ...

Yea Liv is definitely leading with her hands. That habit has to be broken if she wants to see the floor at UCONN.

A nice 7-0 run to open up the second half. This one is starting to get away from Argentina.

Jeff put blackwell at the top of a Diamond press to start the half so far so good.

CW drives, feels the defense, puts up a short jumper with her right hand. Basket.

CW picking it up!!.............nice to see that there are actually some people in the stands.............what a pleasure, haven't heard any airhorns..............

Legend trying to take over the game but everything is up hill. No good screens, no hard cuts to the basket. Everything appears forced, unsure one on one not team. Prince still the only one playing well.

#10 is getting a little chippy with Christyn. She's got one hand on CW's waist, and swatting at the ball with the other one, and the refs aren't calling it.
