Is this 'new news'?

Feb. 21-23....many of the possible Rio team members are on breaks from their overseas games and are
headed to Storrs for a quick get-together...maybe some practice and chalk talks. UConn is on a small break and USA poohbahs want to take advantage to get the players together as the Games approach.

Will Stewie be on the court with them? I would guess 'yes'.
Will media be allowed? Will just regular folks be allowed?
Will members of the current UConn team be allowed to eyeball the oncourt
activities? Just a continuation of the status for the last 20 years...UConn the capital of the
basketball world.

Saw this a couple of weeks ago and wondered if any of the team activities would be visible to the public. I'd love to see this collection of talent all in one place.

Carl wrote about it in one of his blogs a couple of weeks ago:

Geno Auriemma's duties as United States national team coach are never far away. In fact, they'll be coming to Storrs in February.

USA Basketball will hold a mini-camp on the UConn campus. The dates are expected to be Feb. 21-23. The Huskies play at East Carolina on Feb. 20 and then entertain SMU at Gampel Pavilion Feb. 24.

"We have a break there and the guys playing in Europe have a break then and Carol (women's national team director Callan) wanted to get everyone together," Auriemma said. "I don't know if I'll have to do much other than watch. I don't know if the players will be excited about coming to Storrs in February but it will be good for us."

The 2016 Olympic Games are set for August in Rio de Janeiro.

Stewart, who was a member of Team USA that won gold at the 2014 FIBA world championships and remains part of the national team pool, doesn't know if she'll have a role at the mini-camp.

"I'm not exactly sure," Stewart said. "I have to talk to Carol and Coach."

Will they be staying at the Nathan Hale or the Vernon Motel 6?

I suspect it will all be closed - no organized scrimmage or public showing. I would guess Stewart will be included (depending on course work) and suspect that depending on who all shows up, they might include Morgan and or Moriah to fill up numbers. I am sure Uconn players will have access, and folks like Jen R. and Curt Miller might be on hand as well. The uconn coaches will likely be pressed into service too - doubt Doug and Dawn will be able to make it during their seasons.

Sounds like a great time for recruits to visit. ;)
Meyers , it sort of states that....." if THIS coach and campus is good enough and the right place for Olympians to be , its good enough for you."

UConn, pipeline to the Olympics.
(When the WNBA isn't enough.)

Would be good for recruiting if some of the Olympians would rave about the facilities (if not the Nathan Hale or Vernon Motel 6) after the event...

Doug has a game at Creighton on the 21st and Dawn has a game at Alabama on the 22nd, so they're tied up unless they would delegate the game coaching to an assistant. Jen is "off", between an away game (N. Hampshire) on the 20th and a home game on the 24th. Would imagine some UCONN coaches might need to be involved in prepping the team for SMU on the 24th, however if there was ever a game you could go a little light on the prep for....

Don't know if it'll happen, but I would absolutely love to see what Moriah could do against a collection of the greatest talent in the WBB world. My money's on Moriah.

True......very true.

Totally worth flying up from Texas to see this.
