First reports show our UConn ladies are fighting hard for a final position on the team. :D

Recording 35 assists and shooting 62.1 percent from the field (41-66 FGs), the 2018 USA Basketball Women’s National Team easily defeated Senegal 109-58 on Sunday afternoon in Antibes, France.

The U.S. defense limited Senegal to an icy 28.0 percent from the field (21-75 FGs) and also compiled an 54-31 rebounding advantage.

A’ja Wilson (Las Vegas Aces) finished with 22 points; Morgan Tuck (Connecticut Sun) added 15 points; Kelsey Plum (Las Vegas Aces) contributed 12 points and nine assists; Brittney Griner (Phoenix Mercury) scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds; and Tiffany Mitchell (Indiana Fever) finished with 10 points. Additionally, Napheesa Collier (Connecticut) dished out nine assists.

Senegal is one of the weakest teams in the tourney, so it's hard to evaluate our performance, but those are nice stats. Diana could have scored 30, if she had wanted, but she wisely gave opportunities to the younger players.

I still think either Tuck or Collier makes the team. If EDD doesn't go, both may make it.

Nepheesa and Tina were the only two that shot under 50%. Pretty good shooting day for USA

Obviously, the box score is up.

Tina's shooting has been off a little. I think she's slightly hobbled.

Dee was 2-3 from the arc, but had 4 TOs. :(

Tuck took the second most shots, behind Wilson. She was 6-12, including 3-7 from the arc. Morgan added 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 block in 19 minutes.

Napheesa shot 2-5, including 1-3 from the arc, and added 8 rebounds, 9 assists, and 3 steals in 24 minutes. She uses her length nicely. Plum had a team-high 25 minutes; Napheesa was second, with 24 minutes. Sounds like a Tamika Catchings stat line.

We shot 18-29 on FTs. Need to improve that.

Next up: a tough France team in France.

For convenience, I screen capture the box score. I think Naphessa will get the nod. She is all over the stat sheet.
