USA Basketball: Need help cuz I'm stumped....

Hartley and Diggins have tweeted that they are on the way to Colorado Springs for USA Basketball. For what??

I read something about this. I think USAB is putting together a team of college players to scrimmage against ...visiting national teams?

Maybe they're going to fight the fires to help protect the USA Basketball facility.

Probably to practice/scrimmage against the national team; It's done all the time.

I wonder if it has anything to do with a 3x3 Fiba championship in August? Do we have a standing 3x3 team?

Yes re: 3x3 team. I don't know the other 3 members but I know Bri Turner is on it.

Always I'm curious if Griner and EDD will be on this college team. They are at least comparable to the Aussies front line of LJ and Cambage. Could be a good scrimmage.

I'd take Sims over Diggins if I was building a 3 on 3 team. Sims is the better ball handler and defender and IMHO is just as good on offense.

It's a 4 member team not a competition to between her and Bria. As far as who is included and who isn't...I imagine they wanted a team that would work well together and mesh. When Diggins and Sims were both on the WUG team Diggins was the starter and clearly better at running the team and distributing the ball and recording significantly more steals even when you factored in playing time. The quotes from the O's afterward were about how Diggins set them up and how the were impressed by her passing. Sims may run Baylor better than Diggins ran ND, but that doesn't necessarily transfer to working well with the other players. Diggins has a long history with USA basketball and working with the other team members. Sims has only been on the WUG team while Diggins has been on gold medal winning teams at every age group level except U16 and U17 which didn't exist when she was that age.

rjp is correct. The 3 on 3 tournaments are 4 people but only 3 play at a time. Considering Diggins talent and international experience, it seems the competition might have been between Bria and Sims for the 2nd guard slot.

I am very happy when UCONN players get the recognition they deserve when they represent their country. I am also greedy. How much is TOO much ? I don't want them hurt, or mentally burnt out from trying to do too much. I think they need time to step back and relax and not even think about bball for while. I want them to be so excited when they get to Gampel they are about ready to pop.
Yes, it is a great reward to be asked to represent your country and very few people get asked, just try and make sure you are not trying to do to much.
