USA Basketball 3x3

Gonzaga beats Utah 12-5 and this wasn't a defensive battle! It was poor offense.

Utah needs a guard. Pili and Johnson both forwards were taking the ball out of bounds and the shot clock is only 12 seconds, so it was tough for them to get in the lane and score.

Media timeout

Creighton leads Tennessee 10-7

Creighton is hitting all 3's (count as 2 points) and Tennessee is scoring in the paint with Hollingshead and Striplin.

Creighton wins with their outside shooting over Tennessee 22-12. Creighton super impressive.

Pool A-- Duke looks the best
Pool B--Maryland right now.
Pool C-Creighton was by far the most impressive team and highest scoring and won with time remaining as they reached 21

Oklahoma vs Vilanova next

This is the last game as a team dropped out and Colorado College gets a bye.

I would think it would be easy for USA basketball to get 16 teams

1st Media Timeout

Villanova leads Oklahoma 9-6

Villanova beats Oklahoma 21-19 in a VERY entertaining game.

Big East with a great showing from Creighton and Villanova!

Ok.

All 4 Pools have played.

Pool A -> Duke should win this pool easily (Indiana, Seton Hall, MTSU)
Pool B -> Maryland looked good, but this pool could be competitive (Maryland, UCLA, Ole Miss, St Johns)
Pool C -> Creighton offensively was on fire. (Gonzaga, Utah, Tennessee)
Pool D -> IDK here. Its the pool with only 3 teams and the one game was the best (OU vs Villanova) with Colorado College who OU and Villanova should beat.

2nd round of games underway

First up Duke vs Seton Hall

.-.
This time around Seton Hall looks better. Its like they got the rules down now.

Duke leads 14-11

More offense this game for the Pirates

WOW!!!!!

Seton Hall is leading Duke by 1 point with 11.9 seconds!!!

Seton Hall just looks like a completely different game than the first game. I wonder if this is how the other games go now that they all have played once.

Middle Tennesse leading Indiana 11-9 early.

Again---offense is much better.

I think teams are figuring out how to play with the rules.

are both mid majors going to get the second round wins??

MTSU is leading Indiana 16-13 under 3 minutes

Hoosiers are about to go down 0-2 and be eliminated?

.-.
Second round games are much better

UCLA and Ole Miss tied at 15 with 80 seconds to go

Man...i hate to say this but size matters in these games

Ole Miss taking advantage of their size over Londynn Jones

Ole Miss beats UCLA 20-17 and moves to 2-0 on the day! UCLA drops to 0-2.

to clarify about size....

Kennedy Brown is the tallest player at 6'6 but she is mobile. Hollingshead from Tennessee is big as well but she has guards to get her the ball.

Its the guard play. When you 5'10-6'0 guards that can pass and shoot they can take smaller players to the post so easily in 3x3.

Londynn Jones from UCLA and Naveah Tot from OU. Teams had them scouted!

Another example is Maryland. They have 4 guards. Yet Sellers is 6'2 and Masonius is 6'0 and both can battle for rebounds, handle, pass, and shoot 3's.

THE BIG EAST!!!!

St Johns beats Maryland 21-15 outscoring them 14-2 to close the game!!!!

They couldn't miss! Unique Drake was on fire!

Creighton and Gonzaga in a battle.

Zags lead 12-8 with 5 minutes to go

Gonzaga beats Creighton 21-19 on free throws!

Interestingly both Creighton and Villanova went over the foul limits in their game (7). Creighton fouled a Gonzaga player on the 7th foul and Brynna Maxwel sank both free throws to win.

Utah and Tennessee on deck!

Utah was abysmal in their 1st game. If they don't figure out their guard play Tennessee should win.
