Curious about the format. Does this loss put Gold out of reach for US team?

Does anyone really need cheerleaders?
Yes, duh. But only if they are wearing chaps.

I just watched a replay of the USA- Netherlands game on the FIBA website. A few observations. We got beat on the boards by being out hustled. The Netherlands shot very well. The player Ramirez guarded scored a lot of points.

Interesting in that each of the 5 teams in pool B (the USA pool) has a
1-1 record after the first day of play.
It appears as though the tie breaker is total points scored which puts the USA on top after 2 games ! To be sure of advancing we would have to win both games Saturday. We could still advance with a split but that would mean the other teams splitting the remaining games also.

I'd love to hear some wisdom from Boneyarders who are seeing the games on how Megan is doing....just in general
how her game looks.

USA Basketball website says today, June 4th, at 11:40 pm EDT. Don't know who to believe...

She's doing fine, perhaps she needs to be more aggressive offensively..............that 3x3 format is so helter skelter it's hard to make serious basketball judgements about anybody.........the US team was lousy on the boards against the Dutch...............Ramirez is clearly there for her long range shooting, certainly not for her defense..............the USA could use a more dominant big but I suppose they are opting for mobility in this format

From the FIBA website:
"Uninvited Guest of the Day: Heavy Rain

Just a few minutes after Alberto Perez struck down a thunderous dunk, Astana was hit by a storm. For the safety of the players, the 8 remaining pool games were rescheduled to Sunday 5 June morning."

Now the US U18 women's team is scheduled to play two games on June 5th, against Italy and Kazakhstan.

U.S. won both pool games tonight and has advanced to the quarterfinals, where they will play China. It starts at 4:20 a.m., in case anyone is an insomniac.

Walker, with 10 points, leads the USA in a quarter final win over China 18-10.
It wasn't the tightest of games for the US. They missed some easy shots and their defense could have been better
(guess who).
But it's a win and they advance.
Walker showed her complete arsenal of weapons: 3pt, post up, dribble drive with either hand. She will be a difference maker on the next level.

USA beats Czech Rep 19-15 in a game that shouldn't have been that close.

USA plays France for the Gold Medal Game at 9:45 AM today. USA has to play better defense and team offense to beat France. Of Course Meghan Walker might take over the game and it won't make a difference.

Megan Walker scored 14 of the 19 points USA scored against Czech Rep. Hitting shots from everywhere on the court.
