Nice move in the paint by China. DT misses a jumper. No offensive flow.

Maya FINALLY hits a shot - a three.
China matches.
 
Tina with a tough move in the paint. 37-30.
TO, launch up to to Moore who lays in for a 39-30. lead just before the end of the half.

Moore misses... US parts like the sea in red and lets Yang score. 39-32 at break.
 
Seems to be a lack of energy, but those 3s have got to start to fall.
 
Fun to watch DT and Bird playing with Charles and Moore. Two UConn dynasties team up. But man, USA missing some makeable shots. Dupree couldn't miss in the playoffs, now she can't hit. USA shooting PCT has got to be poor. On the plus side, I think Tina has 10 rebounds in the first half.

So ... I really dislike the starting lineup - for those who wanted to see the twin towers ... now you have seen it - BG and Charles each with a quick foul, and BG picks up a second and has to sit. And USA ends up with a small lineup and China takes advantage.
Problem in international play is that most teams have 4 players who can hit from outside and run very good screen action. Neither Tina or Griner are good defenders out on the perimeter and struggle with pick and roll defense. Need to start with a smaller quicker forward Nneka or Dupree or Moore and add in Augustus as the wing.
Really didn't like the rotations Geno was using and I think it all started because of the starting line-up.
 
Moore 4-12, Augustus 2-6, DT 0-4, Charles 2-7. Poor shooting. Has got to improve, statistically speaking.
 
IMHO Nneka is a better Power Forward then Charles is. I would have started her over Charles. Nneka is a better scorer around the basket cleaning up missed shots. USA has to improve their guard play if they want to beat Spain. Spain's guards will eat them up with their scoring and defense.

Can't believe how poorly USA is shooting from the outside. Same as the exhibition games.

No, the pass didn't elude Griner. I'm calling that a deliberate tip to Charles.
