Angel out of control again, almost loses the ball off her foot and picks up a charge. Seriously. Calm down.
 
No help from Nneka and Phillips hits a layup. 24-22 USA.

Nneka scores on a post up. 26-22 USA.
 
Charles picks up her second foul. AUS in bonus.
 
Charles gets an offensive board an putback. Jarry airballs, Charles hits a fadeaway seven-footer.

Griner with a terrible half - got off wrong and couldn't get it back together. Charles also started bad but finished very strong. This is what is meant by experience. Griner should have a good second half if she gets her head right during the break.
Whalen was very strong, but I think Sue played a very nice half as well - it is that calming influence she has that kept the USA momentum going. DT had a bad half as well - she should have taken a couple of jumpers instead of some ill advised passes - sometime she is to unselfish.

Griner sucks.

It was a bad half of basketball for her. She was not ready to be pushed like Tolo did. That second foul prevented her from staying in the game and getting a chance to adjust. Hopefully Geno coaches her up at halftime.
 
I liked Dupree's patience with the ball - other forwards and posts would do well to follow suit. (Tina calmed down as the half wore on.)

The US starting to play too much one-on-one. Two trips down the court with only one person touching the ball before a shot.

Whalen playing an incredible game. I like Nneka's energy, also. The US needs to continue to get into the paint and not settle for jumpers.

I don't know why Sims isn't playing more. She is a much better on ball defender and doesn't give up height to Erin Philips or Leilani Mitchell who are burning USA from the outside.
 
82-70 final. Stewie played last minute. 0-1.
 
I agree. Sims could have easily taken Angel's minutes, she plays better defense and makes better decisions on offense.
