This 2020-21 team is so stacked, it’s amazing! We haven’t had a team this deep in awhile. We are at least 10-11 deep with quality minute players.

This is not a rhetorical question, I legitimately can't remember: when is the last time we had 13 scholarship players available in a season? I know Martin still hasn't officially been granted eligibility for this season, but if it happened that would be remarkable.

I can't remember either. As someone who has coached before, its actually a nightmare for a coach to have that many players available..but I don't see it happening. Akok will be out for most of the season (at least he should be) and something else always happens, so I think Hurley will be fine with 10-11 guys.

Just the fact that we are getting back to a point where a redshirt like this could actually occur is fantastic. It seems like its always an all hands on deck kinda situation the past 5+ years.

I'm sure it won't be presented in that way. He's going to have to bulk up a great deal anyway, and when he starts getting pushed around and seeing he might not get that many minutes this year...

This is the advantage, too, of having players like Whaley/Polley/Adams/Carlton who have worked hard and shown growth while not being cast aside by Hurley: they can get in his ear and extoll the values of hard work.

Hockey subs serve a valuable purpose. If the energy is wrong, guys need to know they can all end up on the bench. Pick each other up, you win and lose together, etc etc.

If a player redshirts is he 100% ineligible for the year? or could you bring him in in case of emergency? And then obviously use a year of eligibility. Would not hate to see him redshirt, but with our luck the last couple of year I would like to have 13 guys available for once.

I think yes for 2021. Whaley and Carltonn are both losing and Mac/sanogo have complimentary skill sets.

As long as he's academically eligible and fit to play Hurley can redshirt him and throw him in at any point. Just run the risk of losing the redshirt year.
