Adding Karaban and Starling makes us a top 5 class, no? Would be beyond ideal.
Top 2 as of now (very early) and would be #7 last year. I hope we can get Starling, for whatever reason there just doesn't seem to be much buzz with UConn for him. But would have said the same with Karaban a month ago so who knows

Seems to me that he was waiting for the heavy Duke interest that probably isn't coming now that Whitehead committed.

I would imagine it's anyone's game, and Tom wasn't wasting his time watching every game at Peach Jam. I think we're in the thick of it with the other few schools

currently ranked #3 but where do you guys think it’ll be ranked by the time the ‘22 season starts? Top 10? Better than the “top 5” (even though they were top 10)

With the current class I'd say 10-15 when it all shakes out, but a very good chance to get into that 7-10 range by the spring

As far as recruiting rankings go, maybe 15-25. Depends if there are any major ranking changes but I think that’s reasonable.

The easiest thing to do is look at our current score and then go back and look at where that score landed in previous years. We're at 59.89 right now. That would have been around 19th last year, 19th in 2020, and 22nd in 2019. So somewhere around top 25/top 20. That's not accounting for any individual player ranking changes, obviously.

Starling would get us up to around 63 and that's top 10 territory

One observation, despite our over-all recruiting success, we seem to be striking out in DMV land since Coach Hunter abruptly left. Then KFree did not have long enough to obtain recruiting experience/opportunity and be effective as a recruiter. Part of that may be we are just targeting other guys more and Coach Murray is just ramming up and would be the most logical guy to focus on that area. So there’s been turnover up to this point in DMV.

Why is Karaban called top 50 in this tweet when he's listed as 88 composite? Seems like a pretty big discrepancy, no? Somebody has to be way off in their assessment.
He's ranked 45 on ESPN so they're just quoting the highest ranking.

Rivals has him at 141 and 247 has him at 125.

Rivals actually moved him down during their last ranking update. He's clearly a top 100 player so idk what their deal is

We’ll see where 247 and Rivals rank him next iteration. 2nd team in the best AAU league and NEPSAC MVP. Don’t know what else the kid can do. He outproduces at least half of the 5 stars in his class.

Because he's #45 in ESPN's top 100
ESPN always cites the ESPN rankings where he's 45th

OK, so is he a #45 type guy or a #120 type guy?

The easy answer is probably somewhere in between, but there's a massive difference between someone ranked comparably to Andre Jackson vs. someone ranked comparably to Polley.

Much closer to 45, the past year has been tough to evaluate so it's not surprising to see a wide gap between sites. But after his Peach Jam and him playing at IMG this upcoming season it's hard to see him staying at 120 from the sites who have him there

He's #45 on ESPN because Adam Finkelstein loves Karaban. He's seen Karaban play a lot more than the other recruiting analysts. Not sure why the guys at Rivals and 247Sports aren't as high on him. He's been very productive at every level he competes in. Including at the high level AAU tournaments this summer.

It's because they're projecting his NBA ability more than his curent productivity. He'll be a beast of a college player. The NBA is an uphill battle for him

Who in the DMV did we realistically miss out on that would be a step-up from who we've signed?
