Updated 2025 Roster heading into camp

I thought we can only have 105. 11 will have to be cut.
Or they can be “grandfathered” under the House settlement.

According to the revised proposal, any athlete who has been or would have been cut as a result of the settlement can be “grandfathered in,” meaning those athletes will not count against the settlement’s roster limits for the duration of their college eligibility. That includes incoming freshmen for the 2025-26 academic year who had a previously offered spot revoked due to settlement preparations.

Any decisions to retain these impacted athletes would be made at the discretion of individual schools, but the revision allows for “grandfathered” athletes to maintain that status if they transfer to different schools. “

You're right. I forgot about that. Starting in 2028, 105 will be the limit with no grandfathering.

And missing; Eli Whitacre - late 2025 DB commitment.

Nice to see the 2 kids that are forgoing their extra prep year to get better acclimated to what we're doing up in Storrs now... puts them a year ahead of schedule... my guess is they're a little more talented as well than anyone we've had in the past at the same level (that probably stayed the prep route first before coming aboard)...

Taller DBs with a sliver of talent get plucked by the bigger schools. They’re too valuable to pass up
Example— Malcolm Bell was a backup CB here and is now at Michigan State. 6’2

Doesn't mean we shouldn't offer any. There is a local kid I can't believe isn't in our top 300. 6'4", 190#, 10.8 100, 4.5 40, hj 6'6", lj 24'+. I've only seen Syracuse associated with him. He's doing postgrad at AOF.

If Ahoua goes to Syracuse it will be as a preferred walk-on or as an above-85 scholarship guy. He is not in “our top 300” (whatever that means) because he is not very good, and that’s why he also has no FBS offers besides this Syracuse offer which probably isn’t commitable, and service academies. Another bit worth mentioning is that he’s being recruited as a wide receiver.

Cuse under Fran Brown quite infamously takes an excess of local players on official visits and then doesn’t take their commitments to try and expand their recruiting network. UConn doesn’t have that luxury as OVs cost $3k+ each.

There was a list of about 300 offers. I haven't watched every kid we've offered, but I'd be surprised if Ahoua couldn't compete on our team. Super athletic and fast, and bigger than many dbs. We have a number of local guys playing now, and he's as good as they were at that stage.

Both Coach Shearer and Coach Hilliard follow him. His current offers are from Army, Fordham, Monmouth, Navy, Penn and Syracuse.

5'10" to 5'11" is perfect size for a D1 CB. And weights between 180-195 lbs. So long as they are fluid in the hips and can run, UConn will be fine.
And if they can intercept the ball, and maybe get a pick 6, they'll be great additions!

Yep, RB Malichi Greaves besides Delano Brown were both listed as 2026's in recruiting databases. Also noticed they added another WR to the roster yesterday, who mentioned he might walk-on out of Southington HS. Rashard Williams currently a SO, was on the T & F team last year.
