2026 Recruiting: Update on Qayden Samuels - Visiting This Weekend

I’m not sure if Toure or any recruit in that situation outright tells a staff that. They can let their circles know things that doesn’t go back to a staff.

There’s just so many reasons a recruit may not want a school but would still be recruited by said school. We just saw it with Betsey last year who picked Cincinnati of all schools.
It was the other way around. The staff decided they didn’t want Betsey… who, by the way, is now wearing University of Southern Canada Orange.

Why in the world would we waste even a smidge of time on the kid if this were true?
Because of all the Championships and history of NBA success?
This isn’t my opinion. I know this on good authority. About as good authority as you can get without hearing it from the kid himself. I heard today PC has a good a shot as anyone 😉

Is it better than hearing it from the staff?

A kid wants out of state so bad yet PC has as good a shot as anyone? Lol. Really going after a massively unique life experience there, ay?

Let’s go 20 miles out of state, stay in conference and get throttled annually by the in state team. To go play for Kim English over Hurley.

Let’s be real, it’s all about the Benjis.

He gave a winky face.

Nice build up to the punchline.

You missed the PC joke. And you can honestly believe what you want. I’ve said for a year that he wasn’t coming here. Way before anyone thought that. I stand by what I said.

Nothing much but figured I'd post it anyway.

Four-Star SF Qayden Samuels: UConn and Georgetown have each hosted Samuels for an official visit. He was set to visit NC State last weekend, but it appears the Wolfpack has shifted its focus to another target in Cole Cloer. Alabama is expected to host him this weekend. The Tide have a couple of other players committed (Tarris Bouie, Chris Washington Jr.) and have also made Caleb Holt top priority. UConn remains a viable option for Samuels but the Huskies are expected to host a similar player in Colben Landrew this weekend. As always in recruiting, there is a domino effect and sometimes, the first player to commit, gets the spot. Ed Cooley and the Hoyas are still worth monitoring.

In that same thread as HuskyNan's comment another fan of the women's team said she wasn't that highly ranked as a recruit but Geno decided to take her to fill out the class. She was never expected to play much. She got some run in 2023-2024 because of all the injuries. I can't comment on any of that because I don't follow the women's team much.
Good kid, seem to fit in well with the team and be well liked. Seemed like she was predominantly a threat from three. My personal observation was that she didn't make a big jump forward from her freshman to her sophomore year.

I think the take away for her brother is that nothing is guaranteed here and you have to work for your slot.
