I'll be cheering for Vinyl. The Vinyl have Howard and Hamby who played 3x3 in the Olympics so I'm inclined to believe they have an early advantage with that experience. Plus they have my girl Boston!

I'm closely following the Laces and the Rose. Seems like KP's replacement will come from one of those teams.

I'm also excited to see Money Martin ($$) play with some of her former teammates (why couldn't Natalie take Kierstan Bell in the expansion draft?).

I’m not sure that I’m going to actually pick a team. I do, however, plan to watch it, because I think it’s going to be really entertaining. This is definitely a switch for me, because I never, ever watch the WNBA.

I'll be pulling for Aaliyah and the Mist, but there are a lot of players I'm looking forward to seeing in action. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this format plays out in real time.

What does everyone think the name for this style of basketball should be called? I was thinking the following:

5 on 5 = traditional basketball
3x3 = Half court 3 vs 3
3 on 3 = Unrivaled style of basketball of 3 vs 3 with a full court

BTW I love listening to Megan and Sue in A Touch More. It's a great podcast-style show. They had an episode about Unrivaled and I thought it was a good listen:

I'll definitely take a look. Not sure I will stick with it. I'm not a big fan of 3v3.

Totally missed this comment. Winning bronze is humiliating?

Also, the reason they struggled at the beginning was due to not having the chemistry. All the other 3x3 teams basically play together year round whereas the US assembles theirs pretty late in the process. They started hitting their stride just in enough time to grab bronze.

I second this. And it shouldn't be forgotten that they had to replace Brink last minute due to her injury. Howard flipped a switch during the medal rounds and was key to them beating Canada.

The Canadian team has played together for several years, not only in the 3x3 format, but 5x5 with the Senior Women's National team. They were considered favourites going into the Olympics based on their track record for the last few years. That's far from an embarrassment in my opinion.

I think it's silly that one of their players believes that their little 1v1 tourney can determine who is the best player in the world. I'm pretty sure that three regular season MVPs and two championships in five seasons already took care of that.

We're going to watch teams that have UConn alums. I hope this league encourages others to invest in women's sports. There certainly was a lot of thought put into what resources players and teams need during the season.

Just interested in who "we" is? Your viewing group?
As you probably know or have noted by the threads, over "here" on the General Thread, we have lots of partisan interests, so while many will watch/root for teams that have UConn alums, there are others who will follow alums of other schools (in my case, that's pretty obvious ;)). Truth be told, by the time the pro's have been out of college for a year or two, I'm more watching and appreciating them for what they're doing for their current teams (pro or national).

Personally, I'll take a look at many/most of the teams -- I'm interested in the format and how it plays out.
Plus, I'm very much in agreement with your comment on investments made regarding the league. Specifically, how will it affect -- if at all -- the CBA discussions that start after the 2025 WNBA season.

We = the hub and I. :D And yes, we might dabble with other teams, unless there's a conflict with another sports ball team we watch.
