Naz played last year, didn't she? I believe she filled in for an injured player during the latter part of the season.
 
With 54 players and 8 clubs does that mean they'll have 6 player teams with 6 reserve players? Or do you think they'll bump it up to 7 player teams and add two more players for 56 total?

My 'new player' designation is based on the original 36 players announced by Unrivaled.

You are correct there were a number of players who signed as injury replacements throughout the season.

Yes. Believe the WNBL season was done by then when she joined the league during the play-offs. Was key in helping the Rose win the championship.

Wouldn't be surprised if something is already in the works. The television package they put together last year with respect to in-season shows outside of the games themselves was more and better than I expected.

And it was just their first season. Everything was pretty smooth and fairly well done. I'm sure anything they wanted to tweak or make better has been discussed and will be implemented this season.
 
Does anyone know how they are going to create teams? Will they keep the returning players on their same teams or will we get a whole new distribution?

Just saw this on Instagram. Everyone on this list are not returning. Some due to injury while others opted to play overseas. A couple do not have off season plans noted. Swipe left to see all the players.

Yeah, it is understandable for players to opted out this season of Unrivaled. For a host of reasons.
 
Now that the rosters are set, which club are you rooting for?

I think I'm team Hive (because of Rivers, Mitchell, Citron) and team Phantom (Boston and Iriafen). The Breeze really intrigue me too.

I think my only complaint is that the youth-to-vet ratio on some clubs is out of whack. But honestly I'm fine with that. I'm really into the youth movement in the W, so I'm glad they're grouped together. 😁

Last year, the Mist were my team, but Jewell, Nai, and Sloot aren't playing this year, and Rickea and Aaliyah are on different teams. Oh well! That said, picking up Allisha Gray was the steal of the draft as far as I'm concerned—not sure how the Owls didn't protect her after she tore it up in the W last season. If Stewie and Arike recover from their in-season injuries, that team could be very dangerous and a lot of fun to watch.

I'll also look forward to watching the Breeze. Paige is my favorite, and I think she, Dom, and Rickea could really mix it up. Like you, I'm excited about the youth movement (also love Rivers and Citron).

Having said all that, the Phantom are my prediction to win it all. And I like for Kiki that she'll have the mentorship from Aliyah. (I was hoping that Paige would end up on a team with one of the veteran point guards like Tasha Cloud, Chelsea, or Courtney Williams for that same mentorship experience; I feel like a lot of the benefit of Unrivaled is the relationship building.)

I love me a young, fun team. So Breeze it is. Plus I’ll get to see the Paige, Rickea and Cam trio (since the Sparks didn’t win the lottery). 🥲

Aside from them, I like the Lunar Owls. Phee and Aaliyah with Skylar, surrounded by shooters in Marina, Banham and Bec Allen. Should be fun to watch.

The Breeze are going to be the most popular club this year. I wonder if they'll come up with some organic catchphrase or gesture that'll catch fire like Hooty-hoo! Maybe they'll do the hula?

Same with the Hive -- maybe they can do a crown gesture to denote they're a bunch of queen bees. The MVP of the game will be crowned the queen bee in which the other players will place the crown upon her head. The hustlers can be called the worker bees by the color commentary, and the shot blockers / defensive gurus can be the guard bees. 🤣
