Something that crossed my mind. We don’t have any player with a number 6-9 on the roster despite the NCAA rule change last year. Is there a reason for that or just random?

I am 100% irrational when it comes to uniform numbers. It is beyond obnoxious to me to turn on an NBA game to have #77 being defended by #97 and a battle in the post between #99 and #67. It's just bizarre to me. I hate that there's a chance that one of our incoming guys is going to wear some strange # at some point.

As a Yankee fan I find it beyond annoying that our generational player wears #99 and our "martian" is #88. I get the Yankees retire a ton of numbers and are probably holding onto Rich Bordi and Steve Balboni's # for their plaques, but there's gotta be a better option than hockey #'s moving forward, no?

You got me. As a Yankees fan born in the late 80s I was worried I missed someone

Good news, Jasson Dominguez is wearing #24 now so you don't need to worry

Also as a big Yankee fan for over 65-70 years, I absolutely agree. However, I do believe that the Yankees tend to retire numbers of players that shouldn't be considered. For example, why is #1 retired? Billy Martin was a mediocre player at best, but he developed that relationship with Steinbrenner that got him considered. I appreciate what Joe Torre did as manager, but retire his number 6? Nope. Maris had one great year. Rizzuto begged and begged to get number 10 retired. Munson's 15 was retired because of the emotion of his death. O'Neill, Pettitte, Williams? Now they are complaining to the league that they don't have enough numbers to give out after coaches, bullpen catchers, managers get theirs.

Goes back to the Hall of Fame (in all sports). They've become the Hall of the Very Good. Lots of guys don't belong there in my opinion.
