UNC @ UConn rescheduled to 11/7; Duke likely cancelled

I have a strong suspicion that a lot of things will happen from now until late January or so. The ACC has a considerable structural mismatch that needs to be resolved and it needs to be resolved in sufficient time to allow for many moving parts.

We will at a minimum be impacted on a secondary level.

The consequence of UConn football becoming competitive again is that the p4 locals won't want to schedule us again. It is what it is.

They know it's our Super bowl and if they win they don't gain much and if they even come close to losing, they run sprints after the game!

I suspect our schedule will increasingly be filled with G5 home and homes - which will be disappointing to not get a crack at the ACC teams , but it's the reality of being an Indy.

Obviously we need to see how all this shakes out but my concern is this forces us into a G6 by 2028 in order to fill a schedule.

I think most of the ACC teams will honor their contracts with UConn in the near future. With Duke, the H&H was already extended to 2027 beforehand and unless they cancel that entirely, the series will continue.

If Syracuse cancels our home game this year, we should be compensated.

The Pac 12 will have numerous scheduling spots available as they will only have 7 conference games for the foreseeable future. Maybe UConn will get a scheduling agreement with the Pac 12 for 3 or 4 games per year.

Scheduling and bowl selection remain the major concerns. I still believe that building the brand is the main priority, but we’ll need to join a conference at some point to fill the schedule. It’s a sad reality because the current conference system is not sustainable, but we may have no choice.

Um, in order to join a conference, one has to be invited. Gone are the days of West Virginia begging the XII for entrance & dragging TCU along with them...

I highly doubt that.

Syracuse needs to drop a game. The Syracuse board is convinced they will be dropping us from their schedule.

Bowl selection isn't really that big of a deal and bowls being relevant is becoming a thing of the past.

My bet is the Duke game is rescheduled for 2031 or 2032. Duke isn't running scared: they have five games scheduled with us going forward.

Out of curiosity, do you know what "literally everyone" actually means?
Apparently "literally" means "figuratively" now, and there's no longer an agreed-upon word for what "literally" used to mean. It's like how flammable and inflammable mean the same thing now, except at least "fireproof" is available to step into that language gap.

LOL. I get your point but no, it doesn't. That Americans use words that they don't understand the meaning of does not change the meaning of the words. (And if that makes me an old guy charging windmills with a broom, so be it.)

in almost every conf upgrade starting with utah in 2004 the home state US Senators flexed their muscle to help. orrin hatch w utah jay rockefeller and byrd w WVU the texas sens for TCU then mitch mcconnell w/Louisville. meanwhile we have murphy who actively lobbies to keep us out of the big 12. IMO blumenthal lawsuit gets too much credit for ACC debacles (syracuse and pitt joined the suit) but he hasnt exactly been a big help either
