UNC @ UConn rescheduled to 11/7; Duke likely cancelled

Colorado State needs another opponent, wouldn’t that be fun!

About the time of the 11/15 Air Force game at The Rent, next year’s game at Falcon Stadium was scheduled for 10/31.

Originally, the ODU game was scheduled as an away game. Then, it changed to The Rent before flipping back to Norfolk.

Duke needed to cancel a game, current independent UConn likely cooperated with later plans to reschedule. Or, will potentially play again as fellow conference members.

For independent scheduling, flexibility matters. More game dates with current opponents may change, and/or a 9/19 or 10/17 game will be added.

Wondering what other ACC non-con games will be canceled and how we might be able to backfill with a non-ACC team?

If it is true that the ODU game is an away game then why does UConn list and promote it as a home game?

Updated 2026 schedule according to fbschedules

Changes (from what was previously on UConn Blog):
10/31 @ Air Force (was @ Old Dominion)
11/7 vs NC (from 9/19, replaces @ Duke)
11/21 @ Old Dominion (was @ FAU)
That’s a good home schedule. 3 power 4 and james madison, which will be ranked. Then a rivalry game with umass.

Road schedule not fun. Nov. 28 at Wyoming is weird.

Syracuse is in the same boat as Duke with the nine conference games they also need to cancel a game. Non conference opponents they currently have: Vs New Hampshire, Vs Toledo, @ UConn, Vs Notre Dame

Interesting.

Teams that need another non conference game next year:
FAU (doesn’t have an FCS team so I’d assume they would schedule one)
Memphis
Temple (we are already playing them)
South Florida
FIU (probably scheduling a FCS team)
Jacksonville State (Need 2 teams)
UTEP
Kent State (needs 2 teams, one will probably be FCS)
Northern Illinois
San Diego State (Needs 2)
San Jose State
UNLV
Boise State
Colorado State
Fresno State
Utah State
Oregon State (Need 2)
Washington State
Georgia State
Marshall (probably FCS)
Southern Miss
Texas State

Cal needs to subtract 1 game of: BYU, UNLV, Wagner & UCLA
Virginia Tech needs to do the same: James Madison, Old Dominion, Maryland & VMI (doesn’t do much for UConn as they play all of those teams except VMI)

With 2 games currently scheduled in the Rockies (USAFA 10/31, Wyoming 11/28), UConn will most likely try to schedule either a 7th home game, or an ET or maybe MW away game. Additional ACC schools will likely need to drop an OOC opponent.

I thought I remember reading that the ODU was supposed to be an away game but got changed to a home game. I don't think it was ever changed on the fbschedules site.
As the whens are very limited (9/19 or 10/17) I wouldn't be surprised if we asked ODU to change it back to at ODU as filling in the missing game may require a home game in 2026 with a road game to follow. If we do get a home game, we would have eight if ODU remained as it was. I'm confident they can switch it back if necessary.

So 12 teams in the acc will play 9 conference games but the math doesn't seem to be mathing as it looks like 5 teams will get just 8 conference games. So how would a 9-0 and 8-0 and 8-1 top 3 look?
