After Jackson State's loss to Prairie View A&M on Monday, and then Fresno State's loss to Air Force today, by my count there are 10 teams still unbeaten in conference play this season:

One side note might be the Missouri Valley Conference which has Missouri State 11-1 #5 RPI, Brandley 10-2 #36 and Drake 10-3 #34 as a surprisingly strong set of teams, all of whom should make the tournament.

By the way, I want to know what chuckleheads are voting for Stony Brook in the poll? Their SoS is #309, NC SoS is #317 and they have played 2 games against top 100 teams-#38 Arkansas (and lost by 30) and #62 Bucknell.

Down to 9 unbeatens in conference.

Robert Morris missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer and lost to Mt. St. Mary's 62-59.

Down goes Dayton 50-38 at Fordham. Offensive explosion.

Fordham is a good defensive team (#22 scoring defense in the country).
This isn't a huge upset IMO.

Central Michigan and FGCU both tumble from the ranks today.

The recent spate of upsets of ranked (or near-ranked) mid-majors has seemed to validate my season-long skepticism that those teams warrant being ranked in the first place. It's really easy to look good and pass the eye test when you're mostly matching up against the littler sisters of the poor. Say what you will about a team like Oregon State, but they will be battle-tested come March. Some of the mid-majors have been feasting on patsies and may find the second round of the NCAA to be something of a shock.

I don’t see how South Carolina doesn’t go through unscathed now. I always thought their youth would cause them to stubble at some point during the conference season. However great consistency by their senior leadership.

I'm not sure about that. I think it's harder to judge them fairly because once we get into conference play, the measuring stick is just a bit different.

I'm not sure exactly which teams you're referring to, but FWIW Massey has the following mid-major teams in the top 25:

7. Princeton
14. South Dakota
18. Gonzaga
20. FGCU
25. Missouri State

The post-season is certain to get a little hairy for the Gamecocks...... ;) :D
