i was at the game yesterday. was impressed big time with Oliver who was a beast. Rushdan didn't score as much but she was solid, and i was impressed with Speed, their PG. i agree RU will have problems scoring against UCONN's defense. Marquette held them to 52 points and i'd like to think our defense is just a skosh better...
but i tend to agree that RU's defense, not just in the full court, but their swarming half court defense, could keep UCONN out of the post and force us to rely on our long range shooting, which is inconconsistent. but still, i look for UCONN to try to score with Faris, KML, and Hayes driving to the basket. screens, pick and rolls, quick passing, ball movement, and moving the ball from one side to the other to try to pull RU out of position. i'm not sure RU is the most disciplined defensive team. they tend to rely on a swarming disarray which thows the other teams' offense out of whack.
i think Geno really wants to work on stuff but will rest the starters if he can. i'm sure he wants the reserves to get a "taste" of the BET. but i also think he's trying to prepare for the NCAA's and games tomorrow and Tuesday if we hopefully move on. i hope we see a lot of time for Kiah, KML, and Brianna. i don't think we see the other 3 until the final 3 minutes, should UCONN be comfortably in the lead.
unless we are rusty, i think it will be more like...
UCONN 74
RU 45
