It's going to be difficult to explain this

How is it possible that a school could allow something like this to happen in this day and age? This occurred this past August.

I could be wrong but didn't both Seton Hall and Rutgers have hazing scandals ~15 or so years ago, to the point where New Jersey outlawed hazing?

Granted, those I believe were frats, not athletic teams but still.

Can't link the articles but a female Seton Hall student died in 2010 and a male Rutgers student suffered a brain injury in 2022 in hazing incidents.

Also, a major high school football hazing scandal a couple years back led to serious anti-hazing laws in Jersey.

If its true, no more than a one-year slap on the wrist and the coaching staff gets fired. Same as the swim team scandals at BC and ND.... Do I sense a pattern with the "affiliated" schools

And, wouldn’t this victim be a minor since he was only 17?? Seems like they can’t just dismiss this behavior.

1. If true this is disgusting. If coaches knew it was going on they should be gone. Same with players involved. If there were violation of the law they should be prosecuted. Gotta think at a minimum the coaching staff is gone. Maybe some others in the Athletic Dept too.
2. It is also possible that this is highly exaggerated. A kid who wasn’t cutting it took crude locker room comments/ stupid acts and turned it into this huge hazing ritual to deflect from his lack of ability. He was pitching for Seton Hall not Texas so he probably wasn’t the next Ct Young. Not saying this is the case. Just that it is a possibility.
3. If true, is it possible the Hall shutters the program?

From the sound of things they ought to shut down the whole place. Former president being sued by the school for sharing private documents. He is suing the school for harassment. The current president is being investigated for covering up sexual abuse when he was head of the diocesan seminary.

The athletic department is a disaster. This event, a basketball program that would struggle in a low major league. Sexual harrassment allegations in womens volleyball.

Oh, and the school is accused of defying the Cardinal of Newark and a judge.

Just a mess.
