The Waterbury Republican-American sports editor in his Sunday column: "It probably doesn't mean anything and I am by far the last guy you'd want evaluating football talent, but the overall impression I got Friday in Storrs was that UConn is physically unimposing.
Even the quarterbacks looked smallish. But like I said, that's probably a wrong observation on my part.
You know what you will get with the Huskies: strong defense, questionable offense."

Keep in mind Lewis' writing style. In print he's a confirmed contrarian, always writing under a rain cloud.

Put him in asmall room w/ the Great Dane, Jimmy Bennett, Ryan Griffing and Kevin Friend and see how he feels!

But are they faster and do they move people? Who cares how much they weigh as long as they can get the job done.

He got one thing right, it's the wrong observation on his part. Our WR's are bigger, RB's are bigger, FB's are bigger our center is bigger, DT's are bigger (Shamar is bigger then Reyes and Pruitt, McBryde and Wirth are bigger then Martin) , and our DE's, LB's, and DB's, and TE's are the same people. Jimmy Bennett isn't as wide as Ryan, but Ryan was actually too big. Whitmer is about the same size as Nebrich was last year and Cochran is built like a fire hydrant.

It's amazing these people get paid to write garbage.

I agree weight is important but strength is what really matters.

I stopped reading after:

Lewis, Daigneault & Co. Over at the Rep-Am should just stick to the Dan Mulrooney fluff pieces and leave the UConn fb reporting to the A-list Horde members.

Seriously.

To date, that paper remains the only one in CT to ever use the term 'Big Least' in a headline. Screw 'em...

judging from the updated roster, most of the guys weigh less this year.
Roster is only updated in name alone... None of those weights/measurements are updated from last year

I'm not sure, but is this guy trying to pull a "Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I may not be a big-city fancy-pants lawer, but I believe my client is innocent" speech? Because it's not working.

Lee, meet Sio Moore

I found this line telling: "Even the quarterbacks looked smallish"

It's written as if one would ordinarily expect quarterbacks to be an indication of the physical size of a team. Tell me what the tackles on both sides of the line look like and then I'll get a sense that you have a clue about the size and strength of a team. Even the quarterbacks?

The quarterbacks are smallish especially without McCummings around. Joe Montana was smallish.

It probably doesn't mean anything, I'm the last one to judge journalistic talent, but this Lee Lewis sounds like an amateur hack to me.

We should just go all in and boot Waterbury from the state a together.

Contrarian fits Ed D and Lewis to a T. Lee constantly knocks the school and anything going wrong at Storrs I believe one if not both of his daughters are Uconn students!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do wish Ed would stop bitching about wireless internet at venues. We got it.
