Since 1974, Coach Pat Summitt has led the Lady Vols basketball team to national prominence in the SEC. Proving her sound determination and total dedication, Pat announced in August 2011 that she will continue to coach the Lady Vols as she always has despite a diagnosis of early onset dementia. It’s time for you to step up as a UConn fan to show your support for a fellow conference icon with this custom We Back Pat tee featuring your team’s colors and logo over “I Wear Purple To Back Pat” lettering on the front and the official Pat Summit Foundation logo printed on the back with bold purple accents to symbolize Alzheimer’s Awareness. Even though you may “Bleed Blue & White,” you can show that the Huskies care for their associate athletes and coaches no matter what. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this product will go directly to the Pat Summitt Foundation Fund to provide education about, support of and research for those battling Alzheimer’s disease - now and in the future. The SEC and its member institutions will support the Pat Summitt Foundation Fund’s efforts to increase Alzheimer’s awareness during “We Back Pat” week, January 15-22. For further information about the Pat Summitt Foundation Fund, or to donate directly to the Fund, please visit www.patsummitt.org.

So us cheaters aren't good enough to play but its ok if we buy her t-shirts? Wouldn't she send the money back just like the proposed two year contract?

What does raising money for Alzheimer's have to do with her not playing UConn?

I crank on Tennessee as much as the next person (as long as that person isn't Eric), but that was a lousy post.

I agree DD…way to keep it classy.

It says entirely too much on the front. Why can't it just say "We back Pat" like all the rest of them with the same design & fonts? We know we bleed blue & white already....smh. Pointless. I'm not buying that wordy shirt.

Yep, at this point there is no reason not to support Pat because the fight she is encouraging is against something we can all back, finding ways to defeat the destruction caused by dementia.

If nothing else those in doubt should remember the old saw. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend."

Might I recommend that you send what you'd have spent on the wordy shirt the Fund?

can someone post the link that goes right to the item. It's going to something else. I searched the site for "we back Pat" and it can't find any match.

Have family with the disease so I will support the cause. I think CT fans have the most class of all.
I agree that UConn fans do display a great deal of class and I am proud to be among them. But this shirt would have been a lot classier without the disclaimer headline on the front that says we are loyal to UConn first ... it just strikes me as a mistake of over thinking and a somewhat less-than-classy move. Nothing on the front or a simple UConn logo would have been much classier than a disclaimer.

While on vacation over the holidays, I ran into a close friend of Pat's wearing the orange version of the shirt. We had a great conversation about the subject, and WCBB. Very insightful.

I dunno - there's no denying the bitterness between the two programs and some of their fans. It would be hard to have a straight "We Back Pat" t-shirt accepted at face value by many.... so, this is an interesting work around.

I think it is a fine representation, declaring as a UConn fan we support the cause. I don't view it as lacking in class at all. But that is just me.

I agree TJI...I think they did a great job handling a delicate situation. I didn't have any issues ordering from the link either...ordered last night and already received an email today saying they shipped.

I agree that the tee's look to be a bit too much. However, supporting research for Alzheimer's and other dementia related illness is a good thing. We have a fine organization in Connecticut that provides support to families, information would welcome gifts, too. Link http://www.alz.org/ct/
