Randy had issues with Hathaway but an ideal opportunity for him opportunity in MD came and he would have taken it regardless of who was AD. I remember being disappointed and concerned when he left but he put in many years and a very good job building the program.

Randy was given two state-of-the art training facilities to start his career. That’s not a commitment? He would have given his left nut for that Georgia Tech job and when he didn’t get it, he came back saying he would be at UConn “for as long as they would have me”. Then slunk out of town like a thief in the night. The Edsell water carriers still infuriate me.

Sorry to infuriate you Waq. He did a fine job, the facilities came online well into his tenure. The problems with Jeff came more from inability to push boundaries in Admissions, undergrad and grad. More subtle stuff than stadiums and practice facilities. All coaches look at jobs and all coaches say what they have to. Yes, he showed no character at the end of 1.0
and in his 2.0. Randy 1.0 had nothing to do with the fall of UConn FB. Hathaway wasn’t prepared to take the next step. Edsall was.

I agree. He did a fine job. Many others would have been fine and not have screwed the program upon leaving. I don’t get you apologists. He screwed the program twice.
