Coach Cavanaugh is building the UConn men's hockey team into a force in NCAA hockey. A couple days ago, the Icebus (as it's called) beat #4 UMass-Lowell then tied them yesterday. While the Huskies can play really well against the top competition, sometimes they can play down to the competitor's level. Here's what Coach C had to say about that:
"Look, Sacred Heart has our number [5-2 against his UConn teams]," he said. "It's funny how that happens with certain teams. I'm not sure why. We've had a little success against them and our kids start believing they're going to beat them.
"I'm not trying to avoid the question. I'm not sure I have an answer. Sometimes there's a matchup and you may play well against that team. And we match up pretty well against them. I don't know why. I'd like it to be the case with a lot of teams like Geno [Auriemma] does. He plays well against everyone. I'd like to get it to the point where we can do it against a lot of teams in the league."
