Just watched this game for the first time and had some thoughts
-wow, TV back then was very blurry
-wow, so much foul trouble for UConn in the first half it’s unbelievable that they won. I usually give refs the benefit of the doubt but this game it really seemed like there were some bad calls in Tennessee’s favor.
-was not expecting that I’d know many of the players on this team outside of Lobo, but To my surprise there were a ton of recognizable names, Kara Wolters, Jen Rizzoti, Jamelle Elliot, Nykesha Sales, Carla Berube.

Overall, very exciting game!

It wasn't blurry back then, but you are watching a tape that is 30 years old. LOL.
Dee Canter joined the ESPN staff this year, and if you recall Lobo gave her a lot of flak about calling fouls on her. That was in this game.

It was blurry. Just not as blurry as streamed videos make it seem. Now for the “too much information.”

The resolution on TV broadcasts in the 90s was lower than what most streaming services provide today. To make matters worse, typical TVs today have much higher resolution, in most cases 10x higher, which means there are lots of pixels unaccounted for in the source material. To fill in all those pixels that would otherwise look like so many blank spots scattered across the image, TVs have a processor and software to light them up with a guess about what color they should display. Some brands do this better than others. But it’s not going to be good enough in even the best brands to produce a really sharp image.

What amazes me is how sharp today’s broadcasts really are. We are able to see so much more and more clearly now. It’s really quite stunning. And even with all this, watching a game in person in the arena is so much better.

There was a regular season UConn victory over Tennessee earlier in that season. You should go back and watch that one, too. In my opinion, it was actually the beginning of UConn's WBB empire.

As stated before, tons of games are available on the UConn Huskies Games site including some from the 1994-1995 season. The following thread, pinned at the top of this forum, includes the link to the games

Thanks, I’ll check it out!

Never played BB in school, so didn't know most of the rules, but I grew up in CT and it was a lazy afternoon in a hot tub in a borrowed condo in south FL and hey! UConn is playing TN for a national championship on TV!! That's how I was introduced to WBB, but more importantly UConn WBB. Have been a rabid fan ever since, but sure is hard to believe so much time has passed, so many championships, so many wonderful girls going thru the program, so much to be proud of. And I've even learned a little about the game - go figure. Hope to see another banner in Gampel, and God willing, watch this current crew for another 3 years.
