Cooke did the same thing last season getting on the right track after a bad start to the season. It would be nice if Van Emon could do the same thing this season.
 
Bottom 1st, after Ellisen gives up a 1out single, this is followed by a 1 out RBI double. 1-0 Xavier.

Ellisen gives up a 1 out 2 run homer, 3-0 Xavier, going to the next inning.
 
Top 2nd, a 1 out single for MacArthur, a double play ends the inning. 3-0 Xavier.
 
Bottom 2nd, Ellisen gives up a 1 out walk, the runner stole 2B with 2 outs. A single drives in a run, 4-0 Xavier.

A 2 out double puts 2 runners in scoring position, and a walk loads the bases. Ellisen comes out of the game, Abbadessa takes the mound.

Abbadessa gets a foul out to end the inning with no more runs coming in. 4-0 Xavier.

I expect that sooner or later dinner will be calling me, so that will conclude my inning by inning postings for this game when that happens. Maybe in a half hour or so.
 
Top 3rd, the UConn offense loads the bases with 3 singles with no outs. A fielders choice ground out for the 1st out by Rispoli drives in a run putting runners on the corners. 4-1 Xavier.

Root has a fielders choice ground out for the 2nd out which drives in a run, 4-2 Xavier.

A 2 out single by Minick puts runners on the corners. That is it for the UConn offense this inning. 4-2 Xavier.

I'm wondering that with Cooke now pitching well after his bad start to the season, if he might replace Ellisen in the weekend starting rotation. As always, we'll see what happens.
 
Bottom 3rd, After a leadoff single, Abbadessa gives up a no out 2 run homer, 6-2 Xavier.

With 1 out, Abbadessa gives up a double. After a ground out for the 2nd out on which the runner moves to 3B, Abbadessa comes out of the game, Charlie West takes the mound.

West strikes out the 1st batter he faces to end the inning. 6-2 Xavier.

Bottom 4th, after a 1 out walk, the runner is thrown out trying to steal 2B for the final out of the inning, West has a scoreless inning. 6-2 Xavier.

Very disappointing. Tommy started out strong but has now regressed. Not enough quality starts nor mid relievers.

We just walked the .146 hitter for at least the second time. On the other hand we go down on 5 pitches in top of 8th. Down 5 you need base runners, no patience, not working counts. Pitcher for X has more walks then strikeouts.
