UConn women's basketball summer availability: 6/24/25 (merged)

Geno is an interesting coach in that he is not be hesitant to play transfers like Chen or Lou Senechal at critical moments, trusts their instincts to take critical shots and take on the best competitive players. Similar to what we saw in Chen last year, most transfers get quicker and more confident under his leadership. Will be interesting to see how Kayleigh progresses in the upcoming 3 years.
Yes, I am really looking forward to it. She has a lot of skills and here's the thing, the kid can defend. That gets you on the court in The Land of Geno.

Learning to play defense in a switching man to man where there are 9 players rotating in and out takes time. Instinct isn't enough. Both freshmen Shade/Arnold and sophomores Shade/Arnold were aggressive defenders. The difference was in their efficiency scores.
Chen and Senechal were both 5th year players. Geno said that Senechal was intended to be insurance. She was a wing and expected to play there but injuries forced Geno to start her at the 2.
Heckell may well start. My 8ball has no clear view. She starts out behind several other guards with multi-year UConn experience.
