"Here’s a look at the matchup:
Games like Thursday, Christyn Williams says, are why she came to UConn: A matchup against the defending national champion that’s nationally televised. A potentially record-tying home winning streak on the line for the Huskies. A chance to prove to not simply the nation, but themselves, that they are capable of all the great things previous UConn teams did before them.

Time: 7 p.m.
Series: UConn leads, 4-3
Last meeting: No. 8 Baylor 68, No. 1 UConn 57 in Waco, Texas, Jan. 3, 2019

Radio: UConn IMG Sports Network on 97.9 ESPN

2 espn "experts" pick Baylor... 2 pick our Huskies. and Massey has the win probability as a 50/50 pick'em, with a score prediction of 69 - 68 Baylor. Let's just hope it's a great game (with a UConn win as the final outcome, of course).

Actually Massey has UConn a home team 4 pt favorite, 70-66.

It's a big game for both teams as far as post season seeding is concerned, even more so for Baylor. UConn has games against Oregon and S Carolina while Baylor's only games against ranked teams are home and away games vs No 19 West Virginia.
As far as winning streaks, they always end. ESPN made a huge deal of Stanford's win that ended the longest streak in basketball but UConn went on to win the title that year.
The pressure is on Baylor. They are the defending champs. And other than their Paradise Jam games they have played a much weaker and home-based schedule than UConn. Massey ranks their current SOS at 16 vs 5 for UConn and projects their season SOS at 12 vs 8 for UConn. The declines of Texas and Baylor have hurt the B12.

We'll know by the end of the 1st quarter what the probable outcome will be. If Baylor comes out and dominates the paint...game over. On the other hand if UConn has their offense in flow motion and are shooting above 50% and they hold their own down low then it's a game.

In her presser after the Oklahoma game Mulkey conceded that Lauren Cox was not "in the flow" yet and they would have to just keep feeding her and work it out and seemed to concede Lauren was frustrated out on the court. Let's hope she doesn't get healthy on the Huskies. Around 1 minute in.

When people hope for a great game, what do they mean?

My idea for a great game is one that is well played game by both teams (e.g., few turnovers, good defense, few fouls, good pace of play, make open shots, good passing, making a high % from the free throw line, and finally, no one making a big mistake that costs their team the game at the end). If the two teams can provide us with a contest like that I'll be a happy camper. That said, a well executed blow out by the good guys (gals) will also bring a smile to my face.

UConn limiting turnovers and running their offense is key. No standing around like a bunch of statues.

They mean the following - Uconn 94 Baylor 12. And Baylor got all their points in the 4th quarter when our reserves came into the game.
That is the image of a Terrible GAME. A great game is 2 point separation from the opening gun until the final whistle and Uconn wins. However, a 40 point blow out has a lot to be considered great!

A 40 point blowout and a 2 point win at the buzzer BOTH can be great games depending on your perspective. Some folks don't like, and won't watch a blowout. There's no mystery. The game is over very early. Not so in a game where the lead changes 20 times. Nobody turns THAT game off before it's over. It's like a 1-0 game in baseball. One pitcher is throwing a shutout, and the other is trying to keep his team in the game. Every batter that comes to the plate represents the tying run for the losing team. While a 16-0 blowout will send a lot of fans (on both sides of the score) home early. I could handle a 40 point win today over Baylor. I'd probably watch the replay several times. Go Huskies. :)
